Transformers 4 will be the 1st Dolby Atmos Blu-Ray

I think it's fair to say that even among the Atmos boosting crowd, Dolby's announcement of a single title after the promise of a list was a significant disappointment. What makes matters even more interesting is that Atmos only has the backing of Paramount and Warner Bros. at this time. I'm curious if that means that studios are still waiting to see what DTS can bring to the table, or if they're just not all that bullish on these next gen formats in general.

Transformers, RLY?!

Think the only reason I watched the first one was Megan Fox.

I hope you guys don't get sick of that movie at CEDIA in a few days. Oh boy. One thing I won't miss not going to CEDIA this year is seeing Transformer4 demos ;)

You're not going to CEDIA? I'd have figured you were going.

Think I saw it was in Denver this year.

Denver is hard to get to from Florida. It's always a crappy American Airlines flight, usually an airplane that should be retired. And it's like 5 bloody hours. From Miami, anyways, it's easier to get a flight to Frankfurt than Denver, lol.

Dolby vs DTS

It sounds like Blu-Ray and HD DVD all over again...battle for the studio support. Guess which one is HDDVD? :)

No sadly this is the first time I will MISS CEDIA in like 12 years. I'm staying back to help my wife recover from major surgery this time around but Cliff and Steve will be there.

Remember when Steven Spielberg refused to release his movies (Jurassic Park and others) on DVD until DTS came out? I think George Lucas did the same with "Star Wars" and his movies on DVD.

People can't change history; it just repeats itself over and over again. This time it's Atmos vs. UltraHD. :D

Lucas released the "star Wars" movies in Dolby Surround (not even DPL) on VHS in the early/mid 80's

Whoa, sounds unpleasant. I hope she feels better and a speedy recovery.

Boy, you guys are too hard on this series.
Not really. This is probably the LAST movie I would have chosen for something like Atmos. If I were going to try it out, it would have been The Hobbit or Gravity, which were also Atmos mastered.

That may be but not sure what the business end, the producers, is all about getting it mastered to Atmos. Maybe it was not available yet from them?
A number of moves I'd like to see on BD is still not available. ;)
