DRUDGE REPORT 2014®

it loads for about 15 or so seconds and begins studdering...then stops. I've never waited long enough to see how long it would actually take to finish. Both safari and chrome load it in just about three to four seconds.

everything just seems much slower with Opera.

I just tried your link.
Zero bounce and instant load with Firefox and Ad blocker plus.

Okay... I'll switch to Firefox now and give that a try. I was using opera.

Drudge doesn't have screen bounce... It just didn't load quickly at all.

Drudge report isn't a good overall gauge of browser performance because the site doesn't follow web standards and has terrible performance. Alexa lists them as 'Extremely Slow: 89% of sites are faster' (they take render times for multiple browsers running the Alexa plugin).

If Chrome and Firefox are faster, use those for Drudge. Maybe try Opera elsewhere. There also seem to be apps for Drudge report (although some of those have complaints of being slow also... likely because the site itself is slow rather than the app).

*Edit* Additional Thought:
Have you considered using a feed reader instead of their website? They seem to have an RSS feed:
http://www.drudgereportfeed.com/

Then you don't have to use their crappy website. :)

Same. Plus I was relieved to see that some headway (haha) has been made on this important topic:

Military Rolls Back Restrictions on Black Hair Styles - TIME
Drudge Report is from around my area. They're actually pretty open that they're not a news site per say (actually I think they've used the defense of being a gossip site in law suits).

There is an interesting book called Trust Me I'm Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator by Ryan Holiday. Talks about how since many news reporters surf drudge report for story ideas, yet they're easy to get listed on, its a good way to pass up fake or overblown articles. Basically you get a small blog to publish the story whom won't check the sources (or doesn't require any), then parlay it up the chain through content aggregators, and sometimes it'll end up on the front page of a major news site whom will cite the original blog as the 'source.' Basically, making news hehe.
