Good evening and thank you for welcoming to this site.
Ever since I was in my teens I appreciated great sound.
But sadly I don't know much about frequency are home audio all together.

But in my price range I came across these two subs I been looking at
The Polk PSW125
And The BIC PL-200
Can someone tell me which would be the better choice and why
Thank you very much for your time.

Hey Curtis, and welcome!

Between those two subs? Go for the BIC. Stronger amp, plays deeper, not much of a contest there.

Also within this similar price range, consider the Hsu STF-2. The enclosure is very well braced / built, and it'll be an articulate and musical sub while still providing excellent ground pounding for movies.

Hello Curtiissp and welcome.

I'm new here too, and started a thread here in Beginners with "possibly the stupidest question...." in the title.

The group had been amazing and generous with their responses about subwoofers. I'm a carpenter, and consequently the gang turned me onto a DIY Dayton sub that, in my novice opinion might be superior (and possibly quite a bit more so) than the ones your are looking at...if you can put in some screws! It's a 15" monster!

So take a minute and scan the thread...there's some great stuff in there for newbies.

And as the wise man says..."never be in a hurry to spend money"

Best of luck,

Onward and upward
Puff

Thanks for the warm welcoming everyone. :)
The Dayton Audio seems like a very nice setup!
But sadly, I'm not much of a carpenter and this would probably over power my Polk 65t monitors in front... (I know these 65t's are trash speakers but $120 each seemed like a steal) Powered by a Denon AVR 3805

Dear OP, You have a very nice (old, but still very nice) receiver, but as long as you continue to buy trash speakers, all you will hear is trash

I would think about upgrading the speakers first.

I know.. But sadly on a budget :(
Was hoping if I got a decent sub it would make a great difference in the sound.
I scored the receiver on Craigslist for $120

That's a pro audio sub. Pro audio subs generally have a -3dB point around 40 Hz. Great for bass guitar and keyboards, but not well suited for home theater use.

I use searchtempest from time to time, and I really like it. It's not really practical for something as expensive to ship as a subwoofer, though.

Buying a used sub is tricky business and especially one that old.
Just noticed it said 21", I don't remember velodyne making anything larger than 18

You might need a crane to help you put it where you want it to go, but it would rattle your house. I wouldn't guarantee that it would pressurize the air in other rooms, but it does appear to be an impressive sub for one room. It'd be worth an audition for sure if you live nearby and the seller would allow it.

That looks like a HGS series which was up to 18". Also depending on the version the amps had a lot of problems requiring replacement. Cost was around 500 for a new amp.

Well there is no Mrs. Bushido currently...not sure if it would work as a dining room table though....
