Hi all

Busy doing up our new theatre room, just wanted assistance with the following :

Going for the new 683 S2 floors and a Marantz 6008 Receiver. Just worried that it might not be enough for HT purposes. Will be getting the klipsch SW112 sub too. No centres yet, but will add when more funds become available :)

Room is 6m long, 3m wide. About 2.5m high.

Anyone with this combo able to provide feedback?

Are the B&W speakers 4 ohm or 8 ohm? I powered 4 ohm Dynaudio Contour speakers with my 6008 and didn't have any problems. I never felt like I needed more power.

8 Ohm. Alright, just wanted to know if anyone has these speakers, and what are they using to drive them.

@crossedover I am from South Africa :)

What other sub woofers do you have available to you there? At the price of the klipsch, there are a few that can out perform it, just not sure if they are available to you. I don't SVS has distribution there, is diy an option for you?

Things are slightly above what you guys pay for. Can get Velodyne, B&W etc. Www.homenation.co.za are distributors her. Diy isn't much of an option due to time. Which option are you recommending?

@crossedover which one would you recommend? Will the 6008 combination with the B&W be enough for my room size in OP?

Power wise your good. You will not have issues filling the room except in the lowest bass notes.

Probably will be sufficient for HT 5.1. Just don't use Stereo 5Ch DSP mode. :D

You can always add an external amp later.

How much is the Klipsch sub? $600? I would consider buying something else if $600.

It's about $700 here yes. Which brand and model number would you recommend?

id skip that velodyne if it were me. Can you move up to the SW115? That will give you nice high spl mid bass and should get you in the upper teens in room thats worthwhile. Other than that you would have to step into the $1500 dollar range to really get to the next level of performance, ie the Martin Logan 1500x.

I could, sure. It'll be a 2.1 setup to start off with then I'll get the center at a later stage if I upgrade the subwoofer. The 6008 will be fine to drive the 115?

The sub is powered so the 6008 will be used to send the signal to it and whatever eq that will be applied.

The 6008 is fine. But I would get the Denon X4000 (Audyssey XT32 + dual Sub EQ +DEQ).

Hi again.

Doesn't the 6008 also have Audyssey? What does dual sub EQ mean?

Edit: Never mind, found http://www.audyssey.com/technologies/multeq/flavors :)

Just not sure if the price difference between the 6008 and the Denon favors the need to get the highest Audyssey version?

I didn't see the Marantz on that website. What is the price difference?

If it is $300USD difference, I would get the Audyssey XT32 + dual Sub EQ. I wish I could get XT32 for my Denon AVP-A1HDCI for only $300. :D
