Have any unreturned movies from that closed video rental store?

you might be in trouble. This lady faces up to nine years in jail for just that.

"She’d reportedly rented the movie from the now-defunct Dalton Video, and never returned the cassette.
WHNS reports the store’s former owner, P.J. Dalton, had taken the matter to court nine years ago and gotten a judge to issue a warrant."

No, this isn't from "The Onion".

since it's Fox news, I will take their sensationalism with a grain of salt... Woman might be charge with misdemeanor, but a) i highly doubt that the charge will stick and b) I will eat my shoes if she spends a day at prison (not jail)

It's easy to deny the truth when you don't like the messenger, isn't it? She qalready spent the night in jail so do you prefer filet of sole. or tongue?

Not denying the fact the woman got in trouble with the law, just the fox as usual picked the most sensational pieces and I am sure left the "boring" details out - like if she had priors or criminal record...

Agreed. The facts prove it. I have seen many things on Fox News that were clearly NOT true.

I had to laugh when I read that she had gone in to report a crime but got charged with one herself ... and then had to spend the night in jail. Serves her right for being a rat. Lesson learned? Probably not but she is young and not terrible looking. That counts in Rhode Island.

So what if Mark watches Fox? He also wears socks with sandals.

Just want to be careful that you're not viewing things through a prism.

Right off the top of my head I thought of the Trayvon Martin story, that had nothing to do with Fox news:
NBC altered the 911 tape to make it sound racist. Their false story was aired for many days and picked up by all the news nation wide. NBC News Launches Internal Investigation Into Trayvon Martin Story

and I am sure left the "boring" details out - like if she had priors or criminal record...
I agree as far as missing details.
Just like Trayvon Martin's prior criminal record (not mentioned) and the fact that he was expelled from school because woman's jewelry and burglary tools were found in his school locker.
He was subsequently moved north FL. to live with his father and near Zimmerman's neighborhood.
EDIT: point being, most news is propaganda.

I'm pretty sure they were Crocs.
Oh.... and you'll have to take back that statement you made a few years ago, "never saw a straight guy wearing Crocs.":D

How in the f%^& did we get from a humorous DVD rental story to Trayvon Martin?

Did I miss the bridge to these 2 unrelated stories or do I need further edumacation? :)

Sorry about the cussing but it just came out; the devil made me do it, in my best Geraldine imitation (Flip Wilson character).

It started the inevetable death spiral once someone changed the subject from an ironic story of an unreturned video rental into an indictment of Fox News.

Some people just love to grind their axes here.

No one with half a brain should be watching any cable news network. It's foolish to trust any source that relies on advertising to fund their operation, they are inherently compromised. Fox is simply the worst, but cnn and msnbc are pretty hard to stomach. If I had to watch a news network (and thank god I do not) it would be something like BBC or Al Jazeera, each being state-funded, they are not driven as much by advertising, but you still have to keep in mind neither are likely to be fully editorially independent. I have found the CBC to be pretty watchable as well. American news networks are great if you like flashy graphics accompanied by whooshing noises, and talking heads full of empty speculation, and very little actual content. As for Fox specifically, why would anyone watch a news channel that does not issue corrections as a practice and actually sued for the right to lie with impunity?

News is news, take it for what its worth while keeping in mind where it is coming from. To say you are half witted to watch network news is foolish... There are too many news stations now, too many people watching, too many cameras {private and public}, for much to get by the public these days, and I would rather heae the biased version than be completely ignorant to what is going on outside of what I see with my own eyes...
