Why do you want to upgrade your Pioneer BD player? (And do you mean that you have the Pioneer BDP-51-FD?) If it works fine, there is no need to replace it for watching BDs.
I have bad news for you. Very likely, the second and third best BD players cost
more than an Oppo. So you should either go Oppo or go cheap. For standard BD viewing, it will likely not matter much, as long as the player is reliable. For other things (e.g., upconverting DVD, playing SACD, DVD-Audio,
region free issues), you might want to spend the extra for an Oppo.
My advice is, keep the Pioneer as long as it does everything you need, and save your money for now. It is only if it does not do what you need it to do that you should replace it. Unless, of course, you like throwing away money, which many people seem to enjoy doing. I have found people complaining when I advise someone to now bother with an upgrade, as it is their money to blow. Of course, I do not deny that it is their money to blow, and do not force anyone to do anything. I am only giving advice, and others may take it or leave it, as it pleases them. It does not hurt me if other people waste their money on things that do nothing for them. But some people do not like it when someone suggests that someone else not waste money.
