Can't argue there. I'm a fan of them all as well and always watch until the end if the credits. It's always a little disappointing if nothing is there.

I thought HD was no longer pressed?
If you're watching on another device you can still stream HD from Amazon. Just not from a computer/phone/tablet, through their web browser streaming.

Thanks. I misunderstood and thought it to be HD dvd, the dead format, not the streaming feature from Amazon. :)

If you liked that X-Men Origins steaming pile of crap then you're obviously not a fan of the comic book, (Deadpool as a Wolverine clone with laser beam eyes? Gimme a break ). I haven't completely hated the X-Men movies but they weren't that good, especially as an adaptation of the comic books. I haven't bothered with this one because they're taking too many liberties with the story again. But the trailer did look good. I'm sure I'll end up renting it eventually.

I did really like Avengers though. That's been my favorite comic book movie so far.

Why is it hardcore "fans" are always the first to paint the world black and white :p Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer that if one were to use crayons as a metaphor for the world, we'd use up black and white the quickest (or at least use it the most), but there's always room for shades of gray (and blue and green and magenta and...).

I like the comic books, but I like the movies as well. I understand that they're not geared towards the same audiences and as such they will differ. Sometimes a lot, sometimes not so much, for better and worse etc etc.

Yep. These movies are vehicles to make money and that's all. They have little to do with the comic story lines. That's what doesn't make any sense to me - the comics have REALLY good stories, so WHY come up with the garbage that they're using for the movies when the stories are already there? They basically just used the characters.

My assumption would be the age brackets being targeted by the movies. If you're aiming for 20's on down, more often than not they're not looking for a killer story line when they go to see this type of movie. I die a little inside whenever I hear high schoolers talk about movies. It's even worse when they talk about books.

And I am sure a good percentage of the target audience have zero knowledge of the series. The Wolverine films for me are the biggest travesty of them all too, since he has some of the best stories.

More than likely. Wolverine was always one of my favorite comics and it was due to the character and interesting story. It's too bad they didn't incorporate more of the comic book storyline into the movies, but as a separate entity, I didn't think the first movie was too bad.

I don't mind most of the movies actually and I own most of them (except the third X-Men) and the first Wolverine movie; just have to realize they are completely separate.

I actually am a "fan" of the comic books, I own and have read about every Wolverine issue printed including the frank miller stuff and 4 copies of Hulk 181. I met Stan Lee twice in my life once when I was 12 at Earthworld comics show and again at a Trading card show in Boston {in 02 they were pushing spidey one}, I have to disagree with you, ENTERTAINMENT is just that, I would rather watch a new story then one I already read. Don't for a second think that Stan Lee, Marvel, columbia, Scott Frank, Ditko, bomback, Fox, Century, ect ect ect would play around with 140 million dollars without covering what will sell and entertain people before doing so....

The movies are entertaining that's the point, The Wolverine series is good, and honestly I have read a lot of wolverine books including the origins, xmen {uncanny for the most part}, plus all of the mini's {franks 1-4, wolvie and havok meltdown, kitty pride, weapon x, ect} and the story they made the movies out of works just fine, sure its not following the issues and they took it where they wanted it to go, but if you read Marvel comics you would know he always let the writers and artists do their own thing {for the most part}, Frank Miller, Claremont, Len Wein, John Romita, Bryne, Trimpe all had their own little piece of Wolvie...

Im glad they didnt follow the story line, would you rather see the "Red Right Hand" get Wolverine to go to hell where he gets possessed by demons, so then the xmen figure they need to kill him, he ends up fighting the rrh and killing all the mongrels only to find out all the mongrels where his illigitmate children from the past so he buries them at their mothers graves and banishes himself into the tundra with a pack of wolves after the rrh all kill themselves, then poachers take the wolves and he gets revenge for that, while doing so he finds a bunch of little kids theat were kidnapped and while returning the little kids he gets convinced to come back to the civil world? I like the movies story better, lol...

Wolverine and Havoc was a good series. Gritty and more like how I'd liked to have seen the movies, but that likely wouldn't get big $$$ at the box office. The KittyPride series was interesting, but not great, though that connection would have been better for the movies than him taking Rouge under his wing instead; they downplayed Kitty quite a bit. I think Lockheed would have been a great addition too, since there's so much CG already.

I liked the Meltdown series, at the time a lot of "comic" guys thought it was artsy, but the raw spreads were IMO a welcome change from the ordinary, the story was good, and showed wolverine as a foul mouthed monster, lol... I actually Met Jon Muth years after that mini was printed {which was marked Epic not marvel, I think because of the nudity/swearing although Marvel is not beyond that now(if you have read any recent x-men titles you know what I am talking about), in the late 80's it was taboo since these are "kids" books (not really, but you know what I mean)} any way I met Jon Muth at a childrens book release {I met Bob Dylan too, he signed a copy of "bob Dylan" for me 1962 first album first issue} and had him sign a set of the meltdown series, he smiled when he seen it and said "hello old friends" as he signed them, leading me to believe it has been a while since he has signed a set, lol.... I also bought the book Jon Muth was selling {hardcover $30 now probably on amazon for $.99 lol} it has the lyrics of a dylan song with jon muths illustrations, pretty cool..

But anyway, I am going to be home this weekend healing from another shoulder surgery, {not as bad as the last one, just a quick open it up and laser some scar tissue procedure} so now that we are talking about this maybe I will have a super hero weekend, all the spideys, all the xmen, all the wolverines, capt america, avengers, and if there is time Hulks {not the one with Eric Banner}.... Or maybe I'll do a dark horse comics marathon, Tank girl, Hell Boy 1 & 2, Barb Wire, Mystery men, 300 {frank Miller had a lot to do with this movie}, Sin City and then cap it off with the new one I haven't seen yet R.I.P.D (looks promising}.... A lot of people don't realize the movies we watch are more based on soft short books than you think, there is more creativity and talent locked into them thin paper panel issues than Hollywood could produce in 1000 years...

I just recently watched "With Great Power" The Stan Lee story on Netflix. That was excellent and if you look at his fundamental approach - make the characters interesting and whole including flaws, and the stories will follow; that really does make a big difference. The vast majority of my collection is X-Men and X-Men related.

Let's not forget Jack Kirby on the X-Men either :)

Yah Jack Kirby, definitely one of the founding fathers for sure, too bad he went to DC and ruined his legacy, a lot more people would know his name if he stuck it out with Marvel, he had to die 20 years ago, I remember the article at the time it was something like "maker of heroes passes"... With out him there would be no hulk, silver surfer, thor {comics}, doc doom, xmen {may still have been an xmen, that is debatable} and his baby fantastic 4... He helped marvel out a lot that is for sure, if he was still alive Im sure a few cameos would have been thrown in there... Although for some reason Marvel and its movie making partners don't like to give credit where it is due, honesty no miller and claremont credit at the end or beginning of the Wolverine? c'mon.... Anyway I never got to meet Jack Kirby, although I have a copy of Fantastic 4 #1 signed by jack kirby and years later Stan lee, I bought it signed by jack {probably before I was born} and had it signed by Stan Lee, Stan said "Jack signed this, nice" and I said "I hope so", he replied "wanna sell it" and I answered "you will have to wait for my son to get it first, maybe he will sell it", as he signed it he said "really nice book, fella, really really nice book" then I handed him my copy of Amazing 1 and he said "get me a new pen".... We talked when he got up for some fresh air, he walked over and said "you're easy to spot" (as I was a foot taller than everyone there} he asked about the books, I told him I've been collecting a while and he asked if there was anything I was looking for I said an Xmen #1 with a pgx or cgc over 9.0 would finish up my collection, he said "well if you ever get your hands on one, get in touch with me, Ill put my mark on it for you.... I have bid on them, without his signature they all go in the $thirty+ range, too rich for my blood, all of my books were bought before they were worth mucho money, I bought amazing spiderman #1 and a copy of amazing fantasy 15 for $1600 at a local shop, sent them to cgc and they came back 9.2 -white pages {amazing 1} which is worth $40K now and 8.8- off white to white {fantasy 15} which could be as high as $60K+, two of the most important books in spideys history... I had 3 copies of amazing 1, but when I was building a house years ago, I ran into some financing issues {banks tightened up after the first crash and locked one of my line of credits for 60 days!!!} instead of depleting savings accounts, I rounded up over $100K of "stuff" to sell and a lot of duplicate comic books were in the pile...:(
