To me, the most poignant moment in the movie is when Staufenberg & his family are at home and the air raid sirens go off, forcing them into their basement. As the bombs are going off outside (also a good workout for your subwoofers) I’m reminded of so many scenes from other movies where it was the British in that same situation.

If they are going to kill your family if you fail, why not go back in and make sure it's done. Be the first one back in. "I'll watch the fuhrer, get help!" Then, I drop something heavy on his head.

I just can't believe they missed 15 times. They must have killed some look-alikes. Someone needed to take one for the team.

Taken was good. Liam Neeson did the movie Steven Seagal was too fat to do.

I just watched "Valkyrie" on Blu-Ray last night.

But I felt asleep (just too tired). I'll rewatch it again tonight.
But I did woke up and watched a good part of the documentary. Wow! Impressive stuff to learn in there. What a commitment for only one guy!

There was some really good stuff for your subwoofer. :)

Really wished that they were using German actors though.

I'll report back with some more in-depth comments.

All right, I just rewatch "Valkyrie" last night on blu-ray without falling asleep, like I did the night before. ;)

Not only that, but I watch the two hours documentary right after the movie.

Well, I was very pleased with the film. What struck me, was the physical facial similarity between the look of Tom Cruise with the true in life main character of the film (Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg).

The acting was good, the picture excellent with great details on faces and interiors. Light was also well done.
The soundtrack, I love very much so.
So, overall, a great blu-ray transfer with a good movie and good features.

And it's very nice too, learning about these German partisans. And what about Adolph Hitler enormous luck to escape 15 tentatives of assassination!
Is this guy was lucky or what!

What I really feel from the German soldiers and also from the German population at that time, is that they allowed only one man to rule them all. How could you do such a thing?
I mean, Adolph was not the best person on this Earth, but why would you let this guy to get away with this for so long?
I mean, it's the people that choose someone to represent them for their best interest. So, the people are also responsible for their leader.
It's the same in every country, even in America.

I do understand that there are some countries that are not very democratic in choosing their representatives, but when you become aware of the grave situation, it is your responsability to act and do whatever you have to do, without any prejudice and failure, for the good will of the people.
The true power is in the people hands. And if we allow one crazy fool to put in place his demoniac activities, then it also reflects on us.

What an extreme mess this has put the German people of that time in?
If I was a German soldier working in a concentration camp of that not so long ago era, with the mind that I got today, I would have done what these partisans were also trying to do. It's nice indeed to learn about them, make you realise that some people do have a true conscience and they will act upon it.

May God have Mercy on all the ignorants, the inactives, the deprived, the oppressed and all responsible for this extreme situation. I feel deep sorrow in my heart, because I'm still a child of my mother and father during that troubled period. We'll live with that memory forever.

So, this film is important in my view, and uplift my appreciation for these German partisans in these very troubled times of rage.
Highly recommended for at the very least a serious viewing.

That certainly is a big part of it. Also, Hitler felt like Germany was “stabbed in the back” after WWI because the Jews & Socialists didn’t readily sign up to fight (thus causing Germany to lose the war) and felt a great sense of vengeance against them. He was very charismatic in his ability to convince others of this “truth” and had the military on his side as he thrust himself into the position of military dictator. I also believe there was a large influence of evil which made it possible for the Germans to commit the atrocities they did. Of course, that’s limited to those whom believed in Hitler and were loyal to him.

It’s a real shame no one was willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Gain the trust as Stauffenberg did, walk up to the man & put a bullet in his brain. The fact that 15 attempts failed is a testament to the strength of the evil that prevailed around the man.

Had a holy crap experience when they (the family) go down into the bomb shelter for the first time and the bomb explodes!!!!! I swear I could hear the ceiling cracking:eek: as the pressure wave moved through...the movie is good, but the sound track is incredible....RMK is right. It's over the top.

We three guys did feel that same kind of wave vibrating deep down into the subatmospheric subbasement. Indeed a subaverage soundtrack. And those bombs coming from these subareas did affect the kids of that subfamily.
All in all, a submaximal experience of suboptimal proportions.
Also, the subplot was quite subvocal and subtotal.
Not to be of subtopic, but the subsense was very much so subsaturated with subconsequences.
And subparallel, the substage did moved subtotally in the subregion.

Nothing subliminal in here, just a subperb audio soundtrack without any subproblem.
A subsonic tour de force from subterranean subdiscipline. This was a substancial subsurface that has no substitute. And not too many subtitles either to take you out of the subcontext.

Finally, the subject was well chosen from the subgo. Not at anytime during the film did I felt subconscious.

I just thought of submitting my subscription. Subsequently, I did find the sound of the submachine guns quite powerful.

I now subdue.

Ahhh, come on Craig, I already used that one on my post!
You are submerging yourself into sublunary submersion.
Coming from you, it is subnormal. It's like a submissive and suborbital subordination. I am absublutely subverted.
I don't have any choice, but to send you a subpoena; that should subside your subhead subpermanently in this subessential subbehavior of yours.

Substill, my subequatorial regards, :)

Nothing subconsequential, but submersive nonetheless.

For a true subwoofer workout, try the blu-ray title of "Max Payne". ;)

I really liked this movie. Interesting story, excellent soundtrack.

Some things I didn't understand though... like
when they go to that fat guy and ask him to help them and he says no, why didn't he rat on them?

Also, why the bombs? Why not just shoot him? One machine gun could spray his car on the way into that bunker and he'd be toast. I didn't get their strategies.. they sounded overcomplicated for the job.

As far as Tom Cruise, I've never been a fan (I didn't even like Top Gun, I thought that movie was a little queer), but I thought he did a good job in this. I'm not really familiar with his personal life though, I follow zero tabloids... all I know is he jumped on a couch and follows scientology (which I haven't the slightest idea what that is other than I think all religions are equally retarded and unlikely so I don't care if he worships the spagetti monster its all the same to me)

Also, if you’re going to do a movie about Germans, find people who can do a proper German accent! We had American, British, Scottish & German all mixed together. I can’t believe it’s that hard to find good actors who can do a good accent.
Haha. I've spent a lot of time in Germany. I agree, bad german accents.
