Back to my first question, what do you think of the Axiom M60ti speaker and systems?
I haven't heard them. Can't honestly say.

Heck, Athena F2.2 with a PB-10 would smoke them for 1k. (1k is for the mains). I think the Athena and the SVS would make better use of the 1k. But if it were my 1k, I would spend it all on the mains. And, add a sub later.
If you say so.

At this pricepoint, I think all of the above are better than what you can get from B&W for 1k. B&W 700 & 800 series are expensive. But, they are my personal favorite.

One could achieve the same (if not better) sound quality with the BIC DV62si and a SVS PB-10 for about $150 less. The athenas?

Sorry Zumbo, I have to disagree. I have a set of pioneer HPM-100's and HPM-40's that have carbon fiber cones. Speaker materials or design haven't changed that much from the 70's. Some of the unit's from back then sound just as good as the units today. Just to let you know, that some of the best woofers today have paper cones and foam surrounds, same as some of the best silk tweeters. Like a fine wine, they just get better with age.
Mac, I have those same Pioneer speakers (HPM-100's)

They are beasts! Almost 100Lbs each. I had a pair of HPM-500's in my car hooked up to my deck. Flat bass to 30Hz. :)

They are very hard to dail in though. The treble and mid gain controls take serious time to configure right.

Yeah babe! Chocolate babies?

Sheepster I agree, but when those are dialed in they are some awesome units, great for ht. I was thinking about getting 4 more of the HPM-60's (imeant instead of 40-s) and using that in a HT setup. Not like they are tough to shield!

Yep. One I got them dailed in I watched LOTR. Great bass response. I wish I took better care of the cabinets.
