I've always personally questioned the government's effort to criminalize marijuana in general. I don't believe it's any worse for you than smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, and as a drug it's one of the few from which you cannot overdose. As far as addiction goes, it's been shown that MJ is not typically chemically addictive, and as far as psychological addiction it would be placed in the lowest category as far as withdrawal symptoms go. Alcohol, cocaine, and heroin are in the highest category, tobacco would be in a medium category.
you can overdose on marjuana but only in the form of eating it then it could kill you you could overdose from smoking it too but more than likely you would pass out way before that happens... and as far as addictive goes your right only i would put ciggerettes right up there with herion and cocain and alcohol below that...
Ha another michigan fellow :D

Where is the info comming from on a thc overdose that could kill, are we talking the theory of a lethal overdose being possible or an actual lethal overdose thats on the books somewhere,i think its important to qualify these type statements,to my knowledge there has never been a lethal dose of marijuana listed anywhere .

Im pretty sure its impossible to overdose by smoking it either, maybe a panic attack but not a real life threatening overdose,i will look into this more.

Does anyone remember the Consumer Reports' two part series on marijuana?
It was done in two monthly back to back issues, sometime between 1972 and 1977.
I don't remember exactly when.
The short of it was: they went down to Mexico, where it was consumed daily. Mexicans used it in tea, bread, also like chewing tobacco, and smoked copious amounts. All with seemingly no ill effects.
Highfihoney, if you're interested, I'll bet the library has them on microfilm.
Best wishes to your wife and you.
Rick

No, it is basically physically impossible to overdose on MJ. Unless you're injecting pure THC into your bloodstream at insane doses, you simply can't do it. I'm pretty sure that 1500 pounds in 15 minutes is an impossible amount to consume. Even today, with our super high THC content weed, the only thing that's going to happen from smoking a ton of weed is a serious case of the munchies and a long pot nap. I've seen friends have adverse reactions to marijuana (anxiety attack), but this person also has a history of anxiety and hypochondria, so he's not most people.

In comparison to alcohol and tobacco, marijuana is pretty benign. Lifelong use of tobacco is basically guaranteed lung cancer and other problems. Lifelong abuse of alcohol is also incredibly detrimental. It is very easy to overdose on alcohol.

For the life of me, I can't understand how a plant that grows naturally ALL OVER NORTH AMERICA is made illegal, or how the government is allowed to tell us what we can and cannot put in our bodies. Oh wait, yes I can, they like money and power.

HiFi, this bud's[/s] for you. ;)

Why would we get in trouble ?

The use of marijuana for medical reasons is allready legal in 13 states in the usa,my state's major cities (michigan) have unanimously voted to put policies in place protecting the rights of legal medical marijuana users once the proposal thats curently on this novembers ballott passes, which it's expected to do by a sweeping margin of votes:D,how are we doing something harmfull or advocating something worthy of getting in trouble from the mods or admin of this site ?

Truthfully im of the opinion that everybody being afraid to talk about this due to the stigma that follows the drug is part of whats keeping this issue behind closed doors & making marijuana users out to be terrible human beings.

The only reasons i know of not to discuss the legalization of medical marijuana in the united states is because we, or a web site as a whole, is afraid oif being cow towed by a special interest group who has a vested interest in the continuing criminality of a needed & relatively harmless drug that could be helping countless sick people.

We discuss issues here that are way more worthy of receiving an infraction, banning or closing the thread than this issue of legalized medical marijuana , so far this thread has been 100% civil & kept on topic.

I think it is absolutely outrageous and a disgrace that you and your wife face possible criminal prosecution and are forced obtain this clearly beneficial and benign form of pain control through surreptitious means.

I fully support you in doing the right thing and getting her the relief that marijuana provides.

Gods speed!

Seriously, I have no life.
.. It is very easy to overdose on alcohol.
And how. Just read the papers how many college kids overdose to the point of death:( I have not heard of anyone doing that with MJ:D
Alcohol ruins everyone around that person, not only the alcoholic:mad:

Yes sir, alcohol is the root of all evil, the stuff scares me to death when i think of my children using it,im not for young people using marijuana either but if i had to chose one drug for my children i think i'd pick mj before i picked alcohol.

I really hope she is able to be home soon with you. Best wishes to you and your family...:)

It's starting to look as if there might be some light at the end of the tunnel, the docs take blood from my wife 3 times daily to measure the count of some sort of enzymes associated with accute pancriatis, her levels are still dangerously high but are starting to come down slowly.

We had a nice talk with one of the specialists working on her today,i mentioned the use of marijuana for relaxation & spasm control,it was a funny conversation because he spoke in guarded tones but at the end of the conversation he said it's hard to argue with something that works for so many MS patients,i also thought it refreshing that not once did he condem the use of marijuana in any way.I should also make known that this doctor is not an american,im pretty sure he is indian.

After the doc left he told the nurses that it was ok for me to lay in my wifes bed with her & take a short nap together, today was a good day.
