    Nearfield and Subwoofer Localization

Yes, thats one way to go about it. The only reason I was deciding between one or 2 now, is because its not for SPL reasons but for excursion reasons as I mentioned. And if higher crossover is localizable in nearfield, then will need to go for stereo subs. And then will need to go for DIY subs...

    Nearfield and Subwoofer Localization

I am planning to buy KEF Q100/Q300. But looking at higher crossover to reduce excursion needs on coax woofer, to reduce its impact on the tweeter response...

    Nearfield and Subwoofer Localization

Hi TheWarrior, I was specifically referring to nearfield or PC setups... Probably dual subs might be overkill as well. But since the article talks easy localization due to close proximity and high crossover ( which would be required for small speakers) , I thought checking about this with the...

    Nearfield and Subwoofer Localization

Its mentioned here that if subwoofer is closed to listening position and is crossed above 60Hz, it can be localized (I assumed that's what is meant by pressure waves of the bass being localizable) http://www.audioholics.com/subwoofer-setup/the-marriage-between-the-subwoofer-and-tower-speakers...

NHT Super Stereo Loudspeaker System Preview

The super 8 sub has an upper F3 of 210 Hz. But any idea on the harmonic distortion upto that freq ? Can one use crossover of 210Hz with this sub ? Does anybody have THD measurements for this sub ? Thanks!!!

    Wall mount setup for HT

How about this : On good day good sale price P153 should be good enough as surrounds or rears (mounted directly using screws) One can chose from multiple options for the LCR and even use external mounts if required....

    Wall mount setup for HT

For P153 no mounts should be required as they have the keyhole mounts

    Wall mount setup for HT

Ok.. Yes mounts can be looked at as well.. At their once sale price of $100 each JBL Studio 230 also look to be great option , though rear port could be a problem...

    Wall mount setup for HT

Free field setup is supposed to be better for stereo setup wrt imaging/soundstaging. But does it matter much in HT audio tracks ? Will wall mount be good enough , as thats quite elegant in a living room. Primus 153 looks like one good option (say 5 x p153) What would be other good options...

JBL Studio 230 Bookshelf Speaker Review

The Studio 230 has a crossover of 1.1 kHz!!! (confirmed from JBL support as well) Quite low for 6.5" driver based speaker ... which would mean a very wide dispersion speaker ... Even Studio 220 has a crossover of 1.1kHz (as per specs on amazon) Too low to be true for that size :) (excluding DIY )

    Kef Q100 vs JBL LSR305

Unless Q100 are sonically better, LSR305 have a price advantage (and are active too). And both would work in nearfield...

    Suggestions for Nearfield setup

Anybody has experience with M-Audio M3-8s ? Couldn't find any measurement data as well... In general, is this 3 way design, i.e woofer + coaxial mid and tweeter, the best design for wide dispersion ? Its also used in some of the best speakers - KEF 201, TAD compact reference, Genelec 8260...

    Suggestions for Nearfield setup

Looks like LSR6325 also are similar to Ascends in terms of bass response. If I am adding sub(s) maybe not a worry, except maybe the issue mentioned by ShadyJ wrt need for lower crossover in the nearfield Btw some of the options mentioned above (ascends, HVL) would be difficult to procure for me...
