Thanks, good advice from all. Yea I can't notice any difference based on orientation. Sounds buttery smooth from any angle. A real treat to listen to, and look at:D

Dual DB1's in Stereo....Need Orientaion Advice

Hey All, I just picked up my second B&W DB1 with plans to run them in Stereo next to my towers. What I am wondering about is the orientation of the subs since they have dual opposing woofers. Should I orient them so that the front woofers are pointed towards the listening position and the...

    B&W 802d

Haha sorry man. My Break in comment, which was originally intended as a warning for you in case you repeat my experience with the 803's. It seems to have thrown the experts into a frenzy, but i'm glad since i'd like to see them proove me wrong or right.:D Although they'd have to get a 800...

    B&W 802d

Were the 803's Broken in? I was always a non believer in the Break-in thing but my 803's changed dramatically over the 1st 300 hours. Was a totally different Speaker. I A/B with my Studio 100's when new and was extremely disapointed with the 803's. Another A/B session a couple months later and...

    B&W 802d

I would say 20% or better discount is fine to pull the trigger. 20% what I got on all my non b-stock B&W gear. Some people say they get 30+% but I've never been able to get that, and have to wonder. Although I don't doubt that USA buyer do a little better than us here in Canada. I did...

    Just Got my B&W DB1

First off, I'm a bit overwhelmed with the whole setup procedure for this subwoofer. There are so many options to consider: 1. There is the Audyssey XT in my Marrantz Pre/Pro. What does this do exactly? Does it simply select crossover point or does it actually do is own room compensation for the...

Should Speakers be Designed to Have a Flat SPL?

I think its just my preference. I only like these settings when I play music, and more importantly when I play loud music, which is most of the time. If I turn the EQ off the midrange just sounds too harsh to me. My sources are fine (I think anyways). I play FLAC or 320kb mp3 output from a...

Should Speakers be Designed to Have a Flat SPL?

I've been in lots of different rooms with many different speakers over the years. I tweak the eq a lot, and it always ends up looking a lot like my pic above. Comes back to personal preference i'm sure. But maybe my preference was influenced by the topics discussed here? I dunno

Should Speakers be Designed to Have a Flat SPL?

Interesting Read. Some may laugh but heres my EQ settings that i've been using for the past 20 years(Even with my 803D's). Switching eq on and off the other night with about 8 people there and all except one liked my sound versus no eq. Seems I deaded the very frequencies discussed here.

Recs for a Good Solid State External HDD?

Sounds like you just want a 2.5 inch laptop drive in any enclosure (USB3 with a e-sata port ideally). A Western Digital Black 750gb would do the trick. If you are going Solid State, ignore everything you've read and buy an Intel SSD. End of story.

NAS- Never Amazes (me how) Stupid (it can be)

Get a Qnap, you wont regret it. Small, quiet, Reliable, can do pretty much anything you can think of. Lots of apps for etc. I've had mine for 2 years now and would never go back. I've heard the Synology's are good too.

    Upgrading 5.1 Paradigm system.....need advice

Well, I just blew my whole budget on the Fronts lol. Thats ok, i'll build the rest over the next year or so. After hearing the 804's I knew I had to have them, then the dealer told me they had b-stock 803's new in box for cheaper than the 804's. It was a no brainer. My ears just cannot...

    Upgrading 5.1 Paradigm system.....need advice

I just made the mistake(?) of auditioning the CM9's vs the 804 Diamond......WOW....I was absolutely floored by the 804's. I'm not sure i can buy the CM9's after hearing the difference. Looks like i've got a set of used Revel F52's in my area. Any idea how these might stack up against the 804's...

    Upgrading 5.1 Paradigm system.....need advice

Some great info here from everyone, thanks people, exactly what i was looking for. Sounds like expanding my budget will be required to acheive what I want, either on dual subs, and or more powerful speakers with better dynamic range(Gonna check out those JTR's). I agree with you with this on...

    Upgrading 5.1 Paradigm system.....need advice

Hi all, 1st post but been lurking for a while. I've got planning on spending a decent amount of money(5-7k) on upgrading my system and would like some input on whether or not i'm on track or not. My room is fairly large, 24feet wide X 30 feet long. Speakers are positioned in the room...
