Choosing speakers is a very personal choice. Everyone here will have a different opinion. Go to a store that will allow to to demo the speakers in your home and see what you prefer. Personally, I have Klipsch RF-63s and love them.

I bought the Onkyo 818 a few weeks ago and Im very impressed. I dont think think its a "flag ship", but for $675.00 I don't think anything else could touch it. Im using it with a Emovtiva XPA-5 amp.

I thing the update issues are more related to windows and the PC hardware then the UMC. Ive little issue updating firmware, takes about 20 minutes and works 9/10 times.

You have made a mistake somewhere. Bi-wiring does nothing for sound. Check your wires again, check the polarity of the wires.

I have two ultra 12s with my five klipsch speakers, sounds great. I think I would rather have two ultras vs one x-ref. I listen to 75% music also.

I agree, small/normal portions and daily exercise. Something to keep in mind, most restaurants server double portions. The wife and I almost always share a plate when we go out to eat now.
