Hello. I'm a newbie who needs some help
I have Z-5500 speakers, and I want to connect both desktop and laptop computers to them, so I could switch the input via speakers' remote control.
Right now, the desktop is connected to 6-direct channel input in speakers and it works as it should. On my laptop, I have Audigy 2 ZS notebook sound card which has digital out. I did some research, but I still have a few concerns.
As I understood, I need toslink mini (audigy) - toslink (z-5500) cable, but I would get no 5.1 upmix, or, if I'm correct, I'd get only two speakers working, unless I'm playing DVD? Is there a way to use digital input/output in these two and get the same result like I'm getting on desktop computer? If so, what do I need?
