I have found some good deals on AV Receivers on HookedOnTronics.com, but I have never done business with them. I was wondering if anyone who has had experience with them could share them here. Thank you in advance for your input :D

Ok maybe no one has had experience with them. What about recommendations on where to get the best deals on AV receivers?

Welcome to the forum!

I've never heard of that place, but others here might have. Give it a bit more time, as a lot of people aren't on here Saturday morning.

I trust Amazon.com, and they have good deals on some receivers (but not all). The Audioholics Store also has good prices on some receivers (but not all). Onecall.com has weekend sales, and they get good reviews as a company. I use dealnews.com to check out prices.

Thanks guys. :) I am actually looking for a Denon 2809CI, and I could not find any Denons on the Audioholics Store. I'll just keep checking back to see if other suggestions come up on where to find one at a good price.

I think that I've seen people here say good things about dakmart.com (but I'm not positive, so search around a bit). They have the 2809ci refurbished for $720.

I just found the same offer on Dakmart.com - you can purchase through the Amazon site and it has good seller rating.

Is there any particular reason you are staying with the Denon 2809? I just read the specs on the receiver and I am not sure what you are picking up on that reciever over say an Onkyo 806. The Onkyo can be had for about $200 cheaper. Obviously some folks have a strong preference for receivers by certain manufacturers, but I am not sure sure you getting anything extra for the money.

Good Luck.

Jeff, thanks for the suggestion. I have looked at both the Denon and the Onkyo 806 you recommended. I guess in the end I decided to go with the Denon based on its track record of reliability and less issues with bugginess. I have read several reviews about the x06 models, and they do not seem to hold the same value as the x05 series. The Audyssey MultEQ XT and dynamic Volume control were other selling points.

tech_freak, would you mind telling me what kind of issues you had with dakmart.com?

Horrible customer service.Sent items that are DOA and takes an act of congress to get them to send a new one.I won't buy from them again.

ROFLMAO! :D In Living Color, classic. I actually remember those skits. I have to say that it was (and still is) one of the best sketch comedies of all time. Thanks for the laughs.
