Hey guys

Almost every thread I read on this forum people say "these are the best speakers for the money" or "That is the best sub for the money". Well I want to know what you think are the best speakers in the world. No more best for the price, what ARE the best no matter the price. Please give me the names of the speakers, and pictures are always good too.

Thanks
Bose is ...you know why? Because people like us are in the minority...the vast majority outthere think and believe that boose is the best( sound thru research, as they say it). We might be laughing at their ignorance but they genuinely believe so. And there are millions of them...So my point is that advertising money is the driving force behind the belief that boose is the best...and i think they are succeding...

Who Knows?

I think I would like to have:

6 PSB platinum T8 towers ($7000/pair x 3=$21,000)

2 PSB Platinum C4 centers, over and under screen ($2000 x 2=$4,000)

7 Marantz MA-9S1 Reference Series Mono Amps ($7500 x 7=$52,500)

1 Lexicon MC-12 processor/preamp, ($10000)

1 Marantz SA-11S1 reference SA-CD player ($3500)

1 Marantz DV-9600 DVD player ($2100)

1 JVC DLA-QX1G Projector ($225,000)

? which screen (something expensive:))

2 SVS PB-12 Ultra/2 subwoofers in piano black ($2200 x 2=$4400)

So, about $321,200 + the screen.

I still say this would be my choice:

http://www.krellonline.com/html/m_SYS_inferno.html

EDIT: Make sure the room's floor can handle the weight!

6ea towers @ 250 lbs. each
1 center @ 100 lbs.
7 mono amps @ 200 lbs. each
4 subwoofers @ 400 lbs. each

Over 2 TONS of gear and I haven't included the head-end gear.

Major,

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that Master Reference Amps weigh in at around 700lbs each, not 200lbs.

I have obviously never heard these, but they sure cost alot!
http://www.egglestonworks.com/ivy.htm
75,000 british pounds, per speaker I think. Current exchange rate is 1.7539USD per 1GBP, so american cost is approximately $131,542
790 lbs PER SPEAKER. I figure 7 of these puppies will do the trick for my bedroom, eh?
I imagine this speaker has to be powered, but they mention the efficiency and impedance, so I guess a seperate amp is still needed. I would have to to with those krell monoblocks then, those are rediculous.
Subs aren't even needed, those speakers go down to 13 hz, but I would probably just get like 4 MTX Jackhammers (car subs) and find some way to rig them up for ht use. Mostly just for appearance though, I don't know how "good" they really are, considering most car subs are intended just to make old people angry.

I would definitely use as many Monster brand products as I can, because they are the best, right ;)

and the sony qualia 006. I would go with the 004 front projector, but I need the versatility of a rear projection TV. Actually maybe I will just do both.

In all honesty though, I can't wait to get my Axioms. Pre/pro and amps from outlaw, svs subs, I'm pretty excited lol.

best speakers

maybe the right answer to this question is naming the speakers to stay away from.

I'm quite sure if we could afford them, we wouldn't need to look them up on the web. They'd come to our house and personally show it. :D

They didn't get sold, the sale fell through because the buyer after looking at measurements wanted to go with speakers a bit smaller. They are still up for grabs. Although I have someone else local who is coming to see/hear them this weekend.

If you are really serious about the best of the best.

Avantgarde Duo Messo (5) Horn Speakers for 5.1 Digital ($40,422 x 5 = $202,110)
Meyer Sound Professional DF-4 Downfill Loudspeakers (4) for Surrounds ($7,840.00 x 4 = $31,360)
Velodyne 1812 Signature Sub ($9,994 x 2 = $19,988)
Krell Evolution 525 Universal DVD Player ($13,500)
KALISTA Reference CD Transport ($50,000)
Krell Evolution707 AV Processor ($18,500)
Audio Design Tune Suite - FM, HD. XM tuner ($2,399 With HD Installed)
Audyssey Pro Stand-Alone Room Equalizer ($2,500)
Bel Canto E. One Reference 1000 Monos ($1,995.00 x 5 = $9,975.00)
Crystal Ultra Speaker Cables (Very Expensive)
Analysis Plus Solo Crystal Oval Interconnects, Power Oval 2 and HDMI (reasonable for High End System)
Digital Projection HIGHlite 14000HD Projector ($129,995.00 + lens)
12' wide Stewart Greyhawk RS Luxus Deluxe Filmscreen (Approximately $3,600)
DirecTV HD Satellite DVR ($399)
First Impressions CineLoungers ($??)
Grand Prix Audio Monaco SE Equipment Stands (Very expensive, but worth it)
Kaleidescape System (Starts at $27,000)
Crestron Touch Panel Controllers ($ Unknown)
Pioneer Blu-Disc Player ($1,440)
Walker Audio Velocitor Power Line Enhancers ($3,535 each)
Symposium Rollerblock Series 2+G3 Set
Symposium Ultra Platform
Toshiba G8000 Series Three Phase UPS - AC output is produced by an inverter that is powered by a DC reservoir (Probably around $40k +)

Now we are talking the best speakers, along with an awsome theater system, all for only from $550,000 to $700,000. Plus, or course, about $250,000 for a specially constructed, total-isolation theater room riding on Friction Pendulum Sliding (FPS) Isolation Systems like the Earthquake retrofitted Federal Courthouse in San Francisco. With specified system for bedroom and den (not described here), the whole thing should come to a little over $1,000,000.

Hope this fills the bill for you. BelieveIt

I'm pretty happy with the modest HT system I have know ( yes, I know, I'm the Bose guy, remember;) ) but it sounds terrific to me. I'd probably buy a Yamaha RX-Z9, or the Onkyo flagship receiver, but other than that, I enjoy what I have as it is. I've been listening to a lot of SACD lately and what a difference!!!!!
