Yammie DV-C6760/CDC 750 Question...

How can I make this player default to "Stereo" when playing stereo CD's? I love this player, the sound/video quality are awsome for the price. But it annoys the heck out of me that I have to ALWAYS change the "soundfield" setting (via the remote button) from the surround mode (DolbyPLII - or whatever it is) to "stereo" when playing "regular" stereo CD's. I have tried changing the settings through the OSD but they don't "stick." Everytime the player loads a new CD it ALWAYS plays it through multichanel Dolby, and I have manually change it every time to "stereo", which is my preferred way of listening to CD's.

I searched but could not find an answer. thanks.

It's certainly a settings issue, but since you have checked you manual, the crude way to solve the problem is to add a stereo analog connection to the receiver to be used when playing CDs. For me it would be a temporary band aid solution because I would be frustrated as all get out not being able to configure the reciver the way I wanted.

Well, the receiver is not the culprit. The DVD player is. I just want to be able to play CD's in Stereo as a default, and not on DolbyPLII, so that I do not have to press the soundfield button to change it to stereo everytime a new CD loads. I also want to use the DVD player's optical output and let my receiver (a yammie rxv2500) do its thing.

Since you have an established digital connection from the DVD player to the receiver, all the issues you mention are receiver setup issues. The DVD player is already doing it's part of the process, so forget about it. Get out your receiver manual and start from scratch if you have to.
