Anyone can advise me on which one of these 3, is the best for my HT (B&w 603,602.5,LCR60 -S3 all, yamaha rvx1500)?
The contesters are Yamaha YST-SW1500, Tannoy s-sub15 and Sony SA-WX900.

Any ideas, opinions, anyone heard any of them, please tell. Thanks

I have never heard the Tannoy subs before so I can't speak for them. I would scrab the Sony and Yamaha subs off the list. Sony and Yamaha do not make very good subs at all. Makers like SVS, HSU, Paradigm, Adire, and some others make far better subs are very reasonable prices. You have some nice speakers and a nice receiver, don't skimp on the sub. It's too important. You can get a hell of a sub for under 500 to 600 dollars these days.

You have some nice B&W speakers, and a bad boomy sub will just add distortion that will detract from the clarity of the rest of your system. I would spent at least $429 and get the SVS PB-10, that would kill a roomful of Sony or Yamaha subs in terms of sound quality

SVS, HSU are not imported in greece. Paradigm PS1000v3 costs about 750euro=about975$. as much as the tannoy. Think its good though,Thanks

Not imported in greece these brands though. everything is pricier here too. Checked the paradigm's max db spl at 23/35/47 Hz and they produce 85/98/107, while tannoy produces 100/110/120 (lab measurements at a greek magazine) at same price both. Does it worth or is it too much and shouldn't concern?

Yes, Tannoy. They have been around forever, and know how to make speakers. Sony....has never made any speakers that were any good (except for a few exceptions that are now long forgotten). And Yamaha is not that much better. I certainly wouldn't trust either company's subs.

Out of those three choices you have to go Tannoy, if you chose either one of the other two you would be doing yourself and your system a great disservice, and I'm not sure but I think the gods might strike you down with lighting if you made such a choice.

Yamaha subs are among the most advanced and musical subs out there, they were the first to come out with class D amps, I have kept other brands of subs but Yamaha and REL are the tightest and SONY does not come in Yamaha's class. The YST-SW1500 is truly one awesome sub. Yamaha pioneered Active Servo negative feedback technology and uses truly advanced long life driver material.

Tannoy Sub

I have the TS-10 Tannoy sub. It integrates very well with the other speakers in my HT system (Tannoy DC 3, DCC, and a pair of vintage '78 DCM QEDs). Musically, it's very good. On some of the intense movie low freq passages (explosions in Master and Commander; spaceship in Fifth Element), it seems to labor, even with a self-powered 300 watt RMS amp. I need to tinker with the adjustments for the movie passages, I'm sure it can handle them.

Buy em all listen to em in your home, return the ones you don't like.
