Yamaha Z9 power up problem

Dear All,

My Z9 has recently been brought back into use, having been boxed and stored for several years. When I power up the receiver sometimes it gets past the normal clicking sound and works fine, but other times it just shuts down while it is going through the clicking phase. If I re-attempt to power up sometimes I am successful and other times not.

Does anyone have any idea what may be the issue?

As an aside, does anyone know what value of fuse should be used in the plug?

Hello Craig, it's great to hear from you. Many thanks for your response.

I hope you will forgive my own, delayed response, but as you may be aware, things are a bit excitable in Scotland at present and I have a lot on my mind. I thought I'd better respond now because after today I will be either over the moon with happiness (Yes) or utterly devastated (No).

Thanks for the link. However, unfortunately most of the content is gobbledygook. Looks like my Z9 should be looked at professionally.

Cheers

I will be watching the election news all day. Good luck! Most of our family there is also voting Yes. I am hopeful but nervous.

I know all the reasons for no, but as an independence minded American, I can't help hoping for a Yes outcome.
I sent this video to Scottish friend and his Irish (both immigrants), so you can imagine where they stand.

Look in the manual and do a system re-set..not just un-plugging it. My older RX-V2400 did the same thing from being stored in my den closet for several years. I used a can on PC air and popped the top off and cleaned out the AVR and did a re-set thru the diagnostic mode on the display and found "analog default" and played the turner for a day or so at low levels on my bench with a fan on it and now all is fine. Non use is really hard on caps etc so I now warm up all my equipment every week or so.
