Yamaha tuner & sound fields

Whenever I select the FM tuner input on my Yamaha 663 receiver the surround channels are barely noticeable with any chosen sound fields or decoders, unlike the other sources such as DVD, CD, cable TV,etc. (My front speakers are large and the surrounds are small if this makes any difference.) Anyone else notice this on Yamahas and any suggestions?

That is because radio is only broadcast in stereo, there isn't much material that the decoders would recognized as being for the surrounds. Your best bet if you want to hear sound from the other speakers is to use the 7 ch. stereo mode.
