I have an Emotiva XPA-2 and USP-1 and they sound great together yet I miss being able to adjust my bass and treble for different songs. since there are no bass and treble controls on the USP-1. and no processor loops. I am Considering getting the Yamaha R S 700 reciever as a pre amp. since it has pre amp outputs and bass and treble controls , a tuner and also variable loudness contour and running it through the Emotiva USP-1 HT Bypass input. that way I can keep the USP-1 intergrated in the system and have Tone Control as well
Is this a good idea??

Yamaha R-S700 Reciever as a Pre-Amp ?

I have a Emotiva USP-1 Pre Amp and XPA-2 Power Amp, they work fine and sound great yet I miss having bass and treble control for different songs. There are no bass and treble controls or processor loops on the USP-1. I am considering the Yamaha R-S700 Reciever as second pre amp since it has pre-amp outputs and also bass ,treble , variable loudness contour, and a tuner, the problem is that I dont want to give up the USP-1 since it also sounds good. I want to run the Yamaha through the Emotiva by using the HT Bypass feature on the Emotiva and be able to use the Yamaha tone controls.
any suggestions regarding this type of connection.

Yamaha PreAmp - I Found My Solution

It just so happens that I had the solution to my problem in my closet. A Perfectly good , and a bit outdated Reciever , Dolby pro Logic. some of my old stuff. I had a Yamaha Natural Sound RX-V 1070 Tucked away in there. Pre-amp outputs that I wanted. I connected it to my XPA-2 It was musical heaven..... I mean that good. The clarity of the sound is enveloping In Stereo and when I engage the fully adjustable reverb perimeters, Rock,Jazz Club, Church, Hall, It opens the sound stage greatly. I know that reverb and delay is not preferred by some, but I think for some music it adds a certain liveness. I am pleased that some of the old equipment can still hold its own against the new and blend with the new in such a way. I have not connected the unit through the USP-1 HT Input, yet I am Enjoying the best of SADE on CD. 2 Channel Rules!!!!
