I'd like to buy multiformat DVD player. But there's problem - audio section. Good audio section. Listening CD (music) is very important for me. I'm thinkig about new YAMAHA S2700, Denon 3930/2930, Marantz...

Do you know any opinnon about s2700. It looks good? But sounds good too?

Don't go Yamaha

I think you will the quality of the sound and picture with the 2700.
Just as long as you have brand new DVD's or CD's . Any scuff or scratch that you can barely see with an electron microscope will give you issue's . For a player this expensive ,the tracking is pathetic and then some
I played a DVD last night that I rented ,and it kept freezing at one point . Well I examined the disc ,and seen there was a very small scuff on it . You would have a hard time even seeing this scuff,so I tried it in my my Pioneer player with no problem's ?
Yamaha DVD player's = garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am almost certain Yamaha get's there Laser's from Toy's are Us!

It's all trial and error at our expense, there's always issues with new products. At that price point go with Denon they just do it right and IMO you could give oppo a try and save some cash.

RAINMAN,the only thing i can tell you is that this problem is not specific to Yamaha players,i tried a troublesome burnt dvd in a $500 Toshiba hd-a2 and it froze, and it played fine in a $75 panasonic player,go figure!

That is a good idea, and you should bring something burned for sure, because pretty much all players can potentially have issues with certain media. Note also that burn speed that can affect how a player reacts to a burned disc - the slower speed you use, the less issues you will generally have.

Very good point's .I am actually going to cope with it's problem's for now by reinstalling my Pioneer. Use them both ,god that seem's stupid!
btw I burn my media at a max of times 2 .
I guess if it read's purchaced DVD movies ok ,I have no room to *****.

Actually that is a good idea, I will do that for now on . I know it makes a differance ,as I mistakenly burnt at 8 times once ,and the movie was unwatchable.
Thank's Rick

And I presume it uses the same laser as the 2700. I've had it maybe 5 weeks and I've played numerous Netflix DVD's, personally owned ones, and ones I've bought used off of Amazon and have had zero problems with the disks or the player; in fact, the picture is terrific on my Sony XBR LCD. So perhaps yours is an anomaly or perhaps mine is an anomaly, or perhaps some of these units aren't garbage after all.

Likewise here - had it for 3 weeks with zero issues. Played DVDs, CDs, SACD, DVD Audio. Impeccable performance - even stunning performance audio-wise. This is a superb unit for your ears. Picture-wise it is top notch as well but I feel that it is the audio that sets it apart.

Glad you're liking it, too. I may give the audio a shot at some point, but the picture is truly stunning; it seems like a hair short of actual HD much of the time. And I have yet to notice a layer change, which kind of boggles my mind since Yamaha doesn't mention anywhere in their marketing materials about any kind of enhanced buffer. A major, added bonus, I think.

I also have the dvd-s2700 and so far i'm impressed with it's pictrue quality and even more impressed with the sound out of the analog output, but i do have a few burnt dvd's that the player has trouble with tough, but since i bought mainly for it's audio quality i guess it would make sense to buy genuine dvd's, the 2700 is definately a keeper.
