Yamaha RXV2400 power problem

I have Yamaha RXV2400 that has been performing perfectly for 6 years. It was ON, then suddenly powered off. Nothing has changed in the wiring or config for years. When I try to power ON I get a brief flash on the panel (regular volume level msg) and then it shuts down.
  • I have disconnected all cable and same thing.
  • I removed cover and checked 2 fuses, they are fine.
  • I have unplugged overnite, same thing.
  • Nothing looks burnt or smells of burnt.
Any thoughts on troubleshooting further?

Your receiver has a major fault. The fault is either in the power supply or a circuit, likely a power output stage has failed, and drawing so much current it goes into protective shut down.

Six years is within the normal life span of an AVR. I doubt your unit is worth fixing. It is pre HDMI so my inclination is to not fix it. It is time for receiver shopping.

With the increased processing and complexity of modern receivers you need to e prepared for your new receiver to perhaps have a shorter lifespan than this one.
