Yamaha Rxv-765 and Klipsch Reference IV

Hey All,

I have just bought a Yamaha Rxv-765 and some of the Klipsch Reference series IV Speakers (Center RC-52-Fronts: pair of RF-62's). My question is: this receiver is rated at 95W/channel and the speakers are rated at 125W/channel. Am I in jeopordy of blowing the speakers to due under-powering them??

I also plan on adding the RW-10d subwoofer -260W powered
as well as 2 pair of RB-61's for the surround and back surround channels.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum Chris0666.

I don't think you will have any problems unless you are in a very large room and are trying to play extremely high SPL's. Klipsch speakers are know for their very high efficiency so you should be just fine with that receiver.

No is the simple answer. You'd only be limited in your dynamic range in some cases.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome aboard. How big is the room and how loud do intend on playing them? Klipsch being so efficeint, it will not take alot of power to make them sing loud. That being said, any speaker can be blown if one turns the volume up max on the receiver and the receiver begins to clip. It will destroy the speakers eventually. Don't go past the 60% pecent mark onn the volume and you should be fine. Oh, and when you do get the sub, it will further free up power on your Yammy by having all the power sucking bass directed to your sub.

There is only two things that can happen... The speakers can demand so much current that it will clip your amp (not likely to happen with Klipsch) or the amp produce too much current and clip your speakers (not likely to happen with most receivers these days.).

If your saying (amp produce too much current and clip your speakers )over driving your speakers, the damage will be an overheated voicecoil ( usually the tweeter) or the woofers have repeatedly slammed againstor past their designed excursion limit causing damage to the motor effect of the speaker or the crossover has been fried and isvery possible with the new receivers as well. All it takes is carelessness to over drive your speakers.
