I have a Yamaha RXV 595A about 10 yrs old, I haven't played it in a while, because my Mirage 360 speakers needed repair, now I am back up and running, I set the speakers using the set up, all volumes are good where we sit, we played Ironman last night and throughout the whole movie we did not hear any rear sounds. is there some settings I messed up on the receiver, can I take the Yamaha back to factory default and start over, or was it the movie. any suggestions

Good morning Jake,

You have to make sure that you select the appropriate audio soundtrack (Dolby Digital, or DTS if your 595 decodes DTS) from the DVD audio menu from the disc itself. And you have to select the "Bitstream" out (for both DD & DTS) from the digital audio output in the audio menu setup from your DVD player.

Also your Yamaha RX-V595 has to be set to Automatic Mode (audio decoding), so the surround channels become active.

Hope this helps. You have a great day,

Bob
