Yamaha rxv-2500 vs Marantz sr9200

I have a Yamaha rxv-850 and I feel that it has outlived its use because I feel that it does not give my dvd player (Pioneer Elite dv-45a) or HD dvr (Echostar's dvr921) the best platform to perform, especially with movies (THX and so on)

Anyway, I was leaning towards purchasing the rxv-2500 but a friend of mine is willing to sell me his Marants sr9200 for a decent price. I know the sr9200 is three years old but from what I have read it was ahead of its time in features and performance...

I am wondering if anyone can provide information on both systems to help me make my decision. Thanks.

Does the 9200 have Dolby PLII? If not that would be a deal breaker for me. Most of what you will hear from your HD DVR is not in DD so the PLII will enhance the audio from your TV.

I was in the same situation. I was debating between the Denon 4802 and the new 3805. After tons of research, it was an easy decision. I went with the newer technology. PLIIX and (IMO even better) DTS Neo 6 are excellent for 2 channel source decoding. Updated transformers and circuitry as well as a few techs recommendations at Denon sold me. Unless you can get the Marantz for a song and a dance, stick with the new stuff. What is he asking by the way?

From what I can find, the sr9200 has THX Surround EX, DTS-ES, Dolby Pro Logic II decoding, DTS Neo:6 Cinema and Music 6.1-channel decoding for heightened surround sound realism (also 7.1 capability), 24-bit, 192 kHz D/A conversion, scart in- and output, seven-channels of 140 watts of equal power amplification and many additional enhancements... If I can get it around $500, that would be pretty good... but the rxv2500 is around $800....

Go with the Marantz. $500 is a killer price. You should be able to get the RXV 2500 for under $700 shipped though if you are paying in US $$. Try www.yahoo.com electronics.
