09:05:47 Thank you for contacting Yamaha AV Support
Keith
09:05:53 How can I assist you?
rudy
09:07:02 yes my rxa1040 was bought less than a year ago new. it is going crazy
rudy
09:07:35 first of all it takes approx 6-8 seconds for the picture to come up when I change the channel. like if it is searching for the signal?
rudy
09:08:27 second spotify comes on by itself with music we dont even own. not only that. when spotify comes up and starts playing it turns the volume all the way up and the avr shuts down?
Keith
09:09:29 Ok, regarding the Spotify issue... Once someone has connected their Spotify account to your receiver, they can push music to it and control the volume remotely
Keith
09:09:53 You can remove your receiver from their Spotify account by resetting the receiver
Keith
09:10:09 Here is the procedure:
Keith
09:10:10 1) Turn the receiver off
2) On the front panel, press and hold the 'STRAIGHT' button. While holding the button, click the main power key, then release 'STRAIGHT'
3) Press the 'PROGRAM' L/R key until "INITIALIZE-CANCEL" is displayed. Press 'STRAIGHT' until "CANCEL" changes to "ALL"
4) Press the power button twice.
Keith
09:11:01 For the video issue while changing channels, that is probably caused by a change in video resolution when you go from channel to channel
Keith
09:11:28 Go into the video settings of your cable box, and see if you can fix the output resolution to 1080p so it stays consistent.
rudy
09:12:13 yes but my other 3 AVR's Sony, and 2 Onkyos dont take no more than 2 seconds to pick up the picture. i dont think it is logical to say it should take 6-8 seconds
rudy
09:12:41 i can actually here the show i changed it too but will not see picture until those seconds have passed. not nornal i thihk
Keith
09:12:50 Well, Rudy... that's my advice. I would suggest you check that setting. I can't speaker for your other receivers
rudy
09:14:10 do you all send a box to send it in for repair
rudy
09:15:12 so anyone can just log into my avr and play spotify??
Keith
09:15:24 Once they have connected to it once, yes
rudy
09:15:38 how is that secure?
Keith
09:15:39 If you reset it, it will lock them out
rudy
09:15:45 you serious
Keith
09:15:50 Yes
rudy
09:16:14 so basically if i reset it they can just connect to my avr AGAIN?
rudy
09:16:25 how is that secure for me?
Keith
09:16:45 They need to be connected to your WiFi network in order to pair their account with your receiver
Keith
09:17:14 This is probably one of your friends doing it. Someone whom you've given your wifi password
rudy
09:18:03 what if i just connect it via ethernet cable not wifi. will they still be able to connect?
Keith
09:18:23 It works the same whether you're on wifi or hard-wired
Keith
09:19:49 So maybe consider changing your wifi password too if you're concerned that might have been compromised
rudy
09:22:05 k
rudy
09:23:19 so even if i am hooked up via hardwire anyone can still connect to my avr?
Keith
09:23:47 If they are connected to your WiFi network, yes
rudy
09:23:54 the thing is this. those songs that get played and volume all the way up are not even on our spotify account
Keith
09:24:04 I know, Rudy
rudy
09:24:04 so it must be someone outside the house
Keith
09:24:13 You just need to reset the receiver and it will lock them out
rudy
09:24:20 k
rudy
09:24:24 i will try it
rudy
09:25:12 what about the video issue? it needs to be serviced because it was not doing this when i first got it. no avr should take longer than at the most 3 seconds to show a picture.....you know this to be true
Keith
09:26:06 That is probably caused by a change in video resolution when you go from channel to channel
Keith
09:26:15 Go into the video settings of your cable box, and see if you can fix the output resolution to 1080p so it stays consistent.
rudy
09:27:58 k. i will lock it into 720 and uncheck all other formats and see if this works
Keith
09:28:08 Great
rudy
09:28:08 not all shows are 1080
rudy
09:28:17 thx
Keith
09:28:27 Have a good day, Rudy

What do yall think the video issue is? What about the spotify issue? Nobody but ME knows the passkey to the WIFI. Not even my wife much less my teens and kids. Is it that easy to connect to someones AVR? Advice? Thx.

TL;DR you put too much work into that conversation.

I have the video issue( DTV and Pioneer AVR ). The only way for me to get rid of it is to use a fixed resolution, instead of native passthru. Im picky so I just put up with it, If you google spofity and volume problems there are some issues when using apps to control the account. As for other content showing its on spofity's end and not your AVR.

Serve you right for subscribing to such an idiotic service as Spotify.

His advice was correct on the video issue.
