Yamaha RX-Z9 being discontinued?

I just spoke with the marketing manager of Yamaha during the HT Cruise. There is no current replacement model for the Z9 in the immediate future. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on a replacement for at least another year. If your local dealer (assuming an authorized one) is giving such huge discount incentives, it may be worth your while to consider them. If you need HDMI/Scaler, you can always add one like others have suggested here.

thank you for weighing in on this thread. that is good news that the Z9 is still in production. sadly, my yamaha dealer in atlanta (hifibuys/tweeter) has discontinued that item from its for sale products. i guess they don't sell enough of them. also, one saleman told me there just wasn't enough demand due to the growing demand for HDMI. i would love to get my hands on one, but seems even living in a big city is no guarantee of having the widest selection.

Seems like I will need to look for a Denon receiver...
