Hi All,

I hope to hear from Audioholics tomorrow so we can resolve this. I'm out of the country next week so I'd like to resolve it ASAP, and I'm sure they do too.

Out of curiosity, what is B&M?

Thanks,
Todd

B&M: Brick & Mortar. It's a term for a store you can walk into, like a Best Buy or Target, as opposed to an online vendor that may do mail order only.

You have to weigh your options. If you buy online you are always taking risks with shipping. But in this case you are getting a free extended warranty and lower price from an authorized dealer so should be no worries.

UPS is horrible, Fedex is typically cheaper and typically take better care of your packages. I seriously don't know what UPS's problem is, and I have no clue why they are still a leader in postal services.

I had the same problem with my RX-V3000 and i brought it to tweeter where i bought it and their repair shop said it was a bad capacitor. I got it home it worked fine for a bit and then it did the same thing, (of course it was past the 30 day warr) so I returned it and he could not get it to happen, i told them to keep it and leave it on and then it happened for him and he found that the factory solder was very thin and it would break contact (not sure where he said it happened) but he resoldered all of the factory solder joints and it is better then new. But this was not brand new when it happened either.

All maunfactures are subject to failure of equipment. Thin solder on a yamaha unit would lead me to believe that other units with the same board would fail also, if the manufacturing process that solders is automated. Always ask for the repair copy(detailed with material included) of the reciept so you know exactly what work was performed. When i picked up my 995 it failed out of the box, returned it, brought the new unit home and it has never had a problem.

Audioholics has been fine

Hi,

Audioholics has been fine. I bought another unit on this site, but I've not got confirmation of shipment. I had to buy another unit and then they will credit my original purchase when they or whoever receive it. I've not been told where to ship it yet but I'm unhooking it tonight and gonna put it in the same packaging it came in. I really don't believe it was shipping damage. As I stated before just a corner was smushed, had it been substantial, I would have rejected it.

It would have been easier to get it at Best Buy. I like the dialouge on Audioholics and the price. I just read today BB would match the price but I'm gonna go with this site. Hopefully they will remember me.

I haven't gotten a ship date or delievery date. I'd think Audioholics would next day this unit to me but that remains to be seen.

I will inform. I'm now gonna go to the workout room and install the HK 445 so I can get on the Oliptical and jam to Led Zepplin..

Ya'll take care
Todd

Update,
I'll probably get banned now, but I'm just here to tell the truth.

I was told "to expidite the receiving of another unit, purchase another one". Which I did, so I would have it here by Friday. I got an e-mail after the advise and my purchase that they have no units. They (audioholics) would have it on Thursday or Friday. I asked them to overnight it to selected locations. I got another e-mail saying that it would cost them $163 to send it to me and that would "ALMOST" take all their profits. I'm sorry but I'd rather have a totally grateful customer that would buy again rather than a peeved one that will never buy again.

I suggested they send it 2nd day for Saturday delivery IF they received them on Thursday. They didn't know UPS delievers on Saturday to residentual addresses. I informed them that they do and that's where we stand now.

Man, what a bummer. I really need to have this thing set up this weekend as I'm gone for a week and even now I'll not have time to teach the S/O how to operate this thing. I've now purchased 2 units for app $1700 and I have 0, nada, nothing to show for it except a box in my kitchen that I don't even know where to send.

Kinda venting, Kinda pissed,
Todd

Don't worry, you won't get banned :)

Just for S&G's I looked what it would cost if I was to ship a 50 pound package with UPS from where I'm at in Florida to a relative's Zip Code in New Jersey on "Next Day" for a Saturday delivery just to get an idea. A receiver has to be about that weight and that the only out-of-state Zip I knew off hand.

HOLY CR@P $270.54

I never realized Next Day Saturday deliveries was that freakin' expensive!

Here's where I found the calculator:

Hi Major Loser,

The shipping isn't really the major reason this has came up. They (audioholics) told me if I ordered another one I wouldn't have to worry about getting it by this weekend. I did that..Now it's Yamaha's fault (according to audioholics). WTH?

Someone has my money and I'm left with a box that contains a app $900 unit in it that I've already been charged for. I won't receive the credit back on this till they receive it back ( + 14 DAYS). I could be drawing...uuummm 4% off this $1700 (with the purchase of the other one) right now, but instead someone else is..

Being peaceful, but getting impatient, I'd like to know what's going on with the receipt of a working unit and the return of the defective one.

We offered you a way to expedite the process of receiving a replacement receiver by purchasing another one (since most return processes involve sending a unit back and waiting for a replacement). Unfortunately, by the time you placed the new order, we had temporarily sold out of this receiver. You ordered with free ground shipping, which clearly states on our shipping policy that can take up to 7 business days. If you would like it expedited to be delivered by Saturday we will be happy to look into it for you, but this is very expensive, as we have told you.

We will expedite the credit process on your returned unit to the best of our ability, and cover the cost of freight on the return.

Viper, just get the free shipping! What's the big beef. When our PS3 went lame on us we had to send it away and we where without a way to play DVDs, games, or Blu-rays for two weeks. We survived that time period and didn't pay a cent over what had already been paid when it was all said and done. It sounds like you have the option to do that here. Is it super convenient?, no. Having something unexpectedly break down on you is never convenient, just be glad it wasn't a fridge or something.;)

It sounds like AH is willing to work with you to their best ability, you can't expect your inconvenience with Yamaha's product to put a huge dent in AH just because you want a new receiver right away, this is the pitfall of buying things on-line, you can't just take it back to the store. That's just part of the business my friend.:)

Good luck with your next receiver, just take a deep breath and wait for the free shipping.:)

Hi Seth,

I agree..free shipping, which is what I put in my last correspondance with AH. I would have liked this thing hooked up and playing before I leave the country for the week.

Again, live and learn,
Todd

btw AH, Next day and 2 day are drastically different in price. I haven't spoken to you about that, just asked you if you would consider it, if you got your units in Thursday.

Dude, not to be alarmist or anything, but with your recent luck you are now planning to get on an international airplane flight?!
Smiles. You are just having some bad luck with these electronics....
I buy most of my stuff used as I am one of the working poor.....:)
Online purchases are not the way to get the I want it now itch scratched. If money was no object I would be a B and M customer at a good hi fi store.
Hope it all works out for you........and just for the record, I don't read the manuals, either.........although I read my plasma's after your thread...take care.

Hi All,

At least I have got an e-mail to a place to ship the broken one too. I was really hoping that I'd have the e-mail that said my new unit was shipped...no such luck..

My e-mail to send it too didn't give their account #. They (Audioholics) did say they'd pay for shipping the unit back.

I would offer to pay for the returning of the defective unit to them, however, they don't seem to be wanting to obsorbe the cost of making a customer happy and shipping a new unit back to me..

AH..Did you get your units in today and did you ship me one for 2nd day delievery to my house? Just asking. ( I know the answer to this question)

Todd,

We received our shipment late yesterday afternoon. Your unit will likely go out today with the free ground shipping that you specified in your order.

Your RMA was issued yesterday as soon as it was approved by the manufacturer.

Todd, maybe it's just me, and no offense intended, I really don't think public forums are the place to be asking (or muscling) and looking for replies about your order. The order details and communication should be done directly with the vendor via phone, email, or ordering system.

Please keep us updated about how you feel AH, or any other vendor is treating you and your business. I feel bad that you got a lemon, but it happens. If you do a search for defective tv's bought online, you'll find out about people who had to pay $200+ to return them and had to wait over a month.

Bottom line is: before you buy online make sure you read and fully understand the shipping and return policies.

Jack:)

Hi Mr. Hammer,

I appreciate your input, however, I'm the type that will pay the price and I want results. I get a little tired of sending e-mails and waiting a day on a response. I did wait 5 days for a RMA to send this unit back. Did you know that? All via e-mail. There is no telephone number on the AH website to call. I did give them my home number to call me, didn't happen. They didn't give me their shipping info to bill the return to, as they told me they would. I paid for the return freight of the defective unit.

Just a reminder, the unit lasted at the most 4 hours. NOT AH's fault, but considering todays customer service or as Clark Howard says (which I totally agree) NO-Customer service, I couldn't call them.

Take with this what you will, I'm not blaming AH for the fault in the unit. Certainly NOT their fault! However, I'd rather bite the bullet on one sale to make a sell every week into the future.

Again, I've lived and learned.

The Marlin are going crazy in the Bahamas and I'm going to catch a few. Hope to get a few sailfish and grouper, permit, and massive Tarpin, anyone want me to send them some fresh fillets?.

Ya'll be good!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaccccckkk!

Hay ya'll,

Back from the trip. I thought I'd have a e-mail crediting my account and a unit to install. I have one of the two. The new unit is here, but I'm too tired to install tonight, however I've gotten no news on the first unit being credited.

I hope to hookup the new unit tonight or tomorrow and I'll report back. I did e-mail Audioholics about the credit for the defective unit and I'll report back on that also. I really hope this new unit lasts for more than 4 hours.

Caught a lot of dolphin and jacks. Again anyone want some filets?

Todd
