Hi Folks,
Received my 863 yesterday that I purchased from Audioholics. READ THE ENTIRE MANUAL!!! hooked it all up. I did the calibration which showed a W1 error. This warning was for a speaker out of phase. Checked said speaker (center) and the wiring was correct. The manual said some speakers (POLK)would show this even if they were phased correctly and the calibration would stand.
All was good, put on the golf channel and let it play for a while. (Damn Tiger's good) I didn't stretch it's feet, kept a normal listening volume and started programing my 880. The receiver was on for about 3 hours. Finished programing the remote and tested..all good.
I came back into the office to check e-mail, while golf was still on, and I heard a loud BANG.
Went into the HT and the receiver was off. I tried turning it back on, but it would only stay on for 1-2 seconds. Checked the manual..Unhooked the RX from power for 30 seconds. Tried to turn it back on but it did the same thing..on for about 1-2 seconds..
I know there were no shorts in the wiring but I decided to check them first, everything was fine. Now the receiver doesn't even try to show the display, when I hit the power button, I just hear a relay click 1 time..DEAD!!
I did notice the box when I received it that it had been dropped. One of the corners were mashed in. Upon opening it, there didn't seem to be any damage, obviously there was or there was a problem with the unit from the get go.
I e-mailed audioholics around 5:30PM and haven't heard back.
I'll report,
Todd
