Yamaha Rx-v863/Emotiva issue....

I just received my UPA-5 yesterday :) and hooked it up to my Yamaha Rx-v863 via blue jeans cable. My Left/Front speaker will not produce sound in 2-Channel (Straight) mode. However, when switching to 7-channel surround mode, the Left/Front operates correctly. It also works when playing Blu-Ray...?? Emotiva says the Yamaha needs service, but I'm looking for any other input before being receiver-less for weeks :(.

I don't think it's the amp. It would either work in both modes or not. Have you tried to reset the AVR to the factory defaults?

I haven't tried re-setting the factory defaults...but will try it this afternoon.

are you sure you have all the preouts and speakers connected to the correct channels?

Not trying to be a smart-@$$, but the speakers are connected to the amp, and not the receiver, right?

Glocks - I will re-check my preouts again, but the cables are color-coded and I'm pretty sure they are going to the correct channels.

Zumbo - C'mon man, yes, all speakers are connected to the amp and not the receiver. :D

I've seen it many times over the years. Many people think you just hook-up the amp, and everything else takes care of itself. Others think the amp adds to the output of the receivers specs.

You never know.

No, I appreciate any input that could help. I'm just confused and depressed at the thought of not being able to listen to my amp after waiting so long to get one because of a faulty receiver.

Something not hooked up properly seems to be the only reason why the LF would not play in 2ch but would play in 7 ch. stereo.

 Improper setup must have been the case....went home, unhooked all cables and speaker wires, re-hooked up all wires and cables and it now works properly in 2-Channel mode. My bad, but appreciate the help!
