Yamaha RX-V861 and Sony Bravia LCD

Hi,

I've hooked up the v861 via HDMI to a XBR series Bravia, however i can't get any picture or sound. If I turn off the Bravia I do get sound coming out of the receiver.

Ay ideas?

have you gone through the setup menu for hdmi? Also did you make the connections with either of the units powered on?

You should make the connections with the power off to all units so you don't damage anything. The HDMI cable should be connected to a TV HDMI input and the receiver HDMI output. Other devices (i.e. satelite or cable, Blu-ray, etc.) should be connected to the receiver HDMI inputs (with power off to all units).

Then power up both units. Make sure the receiver is set to the HDMI input you are using. The TV selector should be set to the input connection where the receiver HDMI connection is made (i.e. HDMI). Once you have a A/V source-to-receiver to TV connection made and inputs selected, everything should work.

my point was if the power was on some gear will not see the signal, pioneer for one. i think that all sould be unplugged not just powered off.

I've tried with both unplugged from wall but no difference.

The receiver was brand new but turned out to be faulty.
