I just got the new RX-V765 and I'm using it with the following devices:

-TV (optical)
-PS3 (HDMI)
-Xbox 360 (Component + Optical)
-PS2 (Component + Analog)

...I have the Xbox 360 connected to AV1. It is the release model with no HDMI.
I note from the previous posts that the firmware upgrade has solved your problem. There is one thing I am still confused about - how is your release model xbox still working: I went through four of those models until my my 3 year EB replacement warrany expired (and bought the newer model with a HDMI connection).

Houston, we got a problem!

Ok, I'm having a problem here. I cannot access page 5! :(

Is there someone at Audioholics that can remedy to that problem, please.

Thanks,

Bob

* Note: OK, I think it's only a mistake as to the number of pages, it says 5, when in reality there is only 4. Funny though, seems to be only happening with this thread!
Oh well, false (more or less) alert.

Don't worry Bob, the same thing happened to me at page 4. It seems that as this particular thread gets to the last post of the page it automatically generates the next page even though there is no post on it, and we try over and over to get to the next page but it never comes up.

Smart deduction from above. ^

^ +1 You seems to be perfectly correct in your analysis. :)

It was kind of frustrating for a while, after several tries.
So I know exactly how you must have felt at the time. ;)

Ain't that nice to share our frustrations at the same level, but from different pages? :D

Similiar systems Fenix and mine

Fenix:
Your system and mine are remarkable similiar. These Klipsch speakers really rock. What do you think?

I love my speakers. I've been cranking them when my neighbors are away and have been loving it. The bass from the sub thumps wonderfully and I feel it when I am downstairs and upstairs as it massages my feet. The bookshelf speakers have enough mid to them (in my mind) and handle all the high notes wonderfully. I'm thinking that when I do get a house I will have to spring for another pair so that I can have the full 7.1.

I've been listening to my rock music (mixture from 80's to current rock) with some hip hop and others mixed in, and it all sounds excellent. Listened to it all day last Saturday as I was cleaning my Condo.

Yo Go Fenix!

Fenix:
Yeah, I know what you mean. I have to wait until my wife leaves the house before I can turn my speakers up and then the kids run downstairs to see what is going on with all the noise. Oh Well! I love my Klipsch RF 62 with RC52Center and RS42 surrounds. My surrounds could be a little bit bigger (RS 52) but I am happy. This will do until I win the lottery and then........
Regards,
Ray

My wife loves loud music as well, but our condo is attached to our neighbors so we have to be mindful of them. That's one of the other reasons that I haven't run the YPAO yet. In the instructions it tells you to turn the gain and crossover on the sub all the way up. Well at half gain I had neighbors knocking on my door within 30 min of my first movie. So, I usually keep it at about 1/4 on the gain and my crossover is set around 100Hz because my bookshelfs only go as low as 92Hz (at least that's their rating on the website, though it says extended to 72Hz).

I'm sure that if I turned the gain all the way up, my neighbors' neighbors would be knocking on my door.

Firmware update from MacBook Pro

I'm hesitant to recommend this, because it's obviously not supported by Yamaha, but I thought I'd share the fact that I just managed to update my RX-V665 Firmware to K032 using the VLC media player and a digital audio cable from my MacBook Pro.

I burned a CD and tried it from my PS3, but it just said "Found Header" or something like that for a long time and never upgraded. Frustrated, I decided to just try it directly from my Mac and it worked.

A few helpful tips:

1) iTunes didn't work. I guess it doesn't send PCM. VLC is free.

2) You need to do this using an optical cable.

3) Shutdown all other apps. You don't want a mail or chat notification to make a sound during the update.

4) It failed twice but I kept trying. 3rd time it worked.

Some thanks to Yamaha:

1) Thanks for making the firmware upgradeable. I'm happy to be able to use my Wii with component cables.

2) Thanks for making the firmware upgrade so resilient to errors. Lesser engineers would have allowed the PS3 attempt and the first 2 MacBook attempts to brick the receiver. Verifying a checksum was a good idea.

I forgot to mention my new Yammy RXV 765 in my setup. (Imagine that!)

Raypasote:
I just unboxed my new 765 last night and hooked it up to an all Athena 6.1 setup. My fronts are the floor standing AS-F2 models.

Couple of questions:

What is the volume setting you use to drive your system? It seems I have to use much "louder" setting on my volume control to get comparable volume level to my old Yamaha 740. Has the scale changed? (-40 db vs -20 for tv listening)

Secondly, I have not figured out how to change the inputs on my 4 Scene Buttons. The default for TV is AV1, and I want HDMI2. I want to change CD to Sound1. It doesn't look like the option is availble with the remote. The book talks about (M)Scene and (9)Scene. What is that?

I was up way to late last night trying to get this baby set up so I am sorry if I missed something obvious.

By the way, my 765 box said the power output was 7x 110 watts at 1KHz (as opposed to the 7 x 95 at 20/20. So it looks like the 765 has about 20 watts per channel more than the 665, which is rated at 1KHz.

this worked and firmware updated.

Thanks. I just tried this and it was exactly what I needed!

I burned the track on a CD-R using Nero (16x, Track-at-Once, Finalize).

First, I tried it with my Xbox 360. I got "Model Type Err" after a few seconds.

Next, I tried it with my PS3. The message on the screen stayed at "Header Found" for several minutes before I stopped it.

Finally, I tried it using the PS2. It worked immediately. The whole process took less than 5 minutes.

And most importantly, it works!

- change the PS3 settings to output digital music at 43.1 KHz (settings / music). Disable normalizer / bitmapping.

I was continually getting "Header Found" and no more. Once I made the changes on the PS3, the RX-765 firmware update worked first time.
