Yamaha

I would recommend the Yamaha in your price range. I own a slightly lower model, the HTR-5860 (equivalent to RX-V657). You also might check for a good deal on the RX-V1500. With new models out, you can find discounts on these receivers ($500 or less).

Pioneer 1015.

You can't beat it for the price considering the performance and features that it offers. auto mcacc, eq, component upconversion, great amp section, THX select II, etc.

Also want to add that their might be some better sounding receivers for cheaper, but they will lack certain features that make the pioneer 1015 such a great deal.

With that said, I'd also look at the panasonic digital amps

I have the Pioneer 1015tx and I chose it for a variety of reasons. It has one more component video input (important if you have 3 sources that use component video). It also has the THX certifications which guarantees that it meets some high quality standards. While THX isn't an all-important specification, it does ensure that you're getting a decent product. Lastly, the price on the 1015tx (for me) was unbeatable. Via my friend's Best Buy discount, I scored mine for under $333. At that price, NOTHING would touch it.

jaxvon, uh, you made it a hard decision, but I am excited you seems to have similar systems to what I am looking at. I am planing to used for DVD Movies, DSS(DirectTV) and occasional music now that DirectTV is offering some XM radio stations.

How about HDTV is the Pioneer will support it, just trying to look for the future since I plant to keep the system for a long time.

Thanks

Julio
