Well I finally upgraded my AV receiver and the YPAO auto setup works well, but I'm also tweaking a bit and have a question.
Neither the dealer(Tweeter) or the manual goes into this very well.I would like to boost the Center channel just a bit for movies only.In other words not for everything, just movies.I was told, one way was to hook up my DVD player to the digital input and to also connect the DVD player to my adio inputs this way there treated as 2 seperate inputs and I can somehow just raise the Center level in DVD input and none of the other settings(audio CD) would be affected. The other was to change something in the manual calls Parameter.ini and adjust this somehow for just movies. Also I cannot see the Receiver screen display on my tv,Is there something like component video cables to do this?
I need your advice on how to do this.Any advice and or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Generally the channel levels are global and apply to all inputs. Connecting both analog and digital cables to the same DVD input will not do what you want nor will the receiver be able to distinguish movies from music.

I think whoever made the suggestion was really thinking about a feature like Onkyo's IntelliVolume. IntelliVolume lets you set an 'offset' (for lack of a better term) between inputs. So if the CD input is always about 10 dB louder than the DVD input, you can set the IntelliVolume for the CD input to -10 dB in an attempt to make the two inputs similar in volume. This will affect all channels though - not just the center channel. I believe some Yamaha receivers have a similar feature but I don't know offhand what they call it and would have to read the manual for your receiver to find it. If your receiver has such a feature, you could connect the analog cables to the CD input and the digital cables to the DVD input - then use DVD when playing a movie and CD when playing a CD.

Note that if you just want to bump up the center level, you can do it temporarily while the movie is playing. On most receivers, once you put the receiver in standby mode the temp adjustment will be canceled and the next time you turn it on it will revert back to the saved settings you obtained via YPAO or manual calibration.
