I am hooking up my buddy's receiver and it has no sound.
System:
Yamaha RX-V757
Oppo 971
Onix X-LS speakers
Hitachi Display
i cannot get any type of sound output. at first we tried coaxial digital to both CD and DVD inputs on the receiver. nothing. messed with all the output settings on the dvd player. nothing. tried switching to analog R/L, messed with all the settings, nothing. tried using the tuner. nothing. tried auto setup, kept getting an error message "connect mic" even when the mic was connected, nothing. there is absolutely no sound coming at all, even when the tuner is selected. i would think there would at least be a hiss. what other options should i try? i am thinking defective unit...thanks in advance.
