Greetings, and thanks for this forum.
I've been Yamaha-centric for many years. Recently "side-graded" from a RX-V2095 to a new RX-V671. My main issue was getting to a receiver with HDMI throughput. I feel I sacrified some of the great features of the 2095 for less quality with the 671, but have been using (dating myself here) my trusty old M-80 power amp to run my mains (B&W DM-604's)
I didn't read the specs very well, and discover upon installation that the is no Pre-out on the 671. However reading the specs thought that the zone 2 "line-out" would be the same thing. (my bad)
I really want to have 7.1, but now only use the front presence speakers.
Right now It looks like I only have two choices, but I hope you'll verify this for me.
1) drop $300 more to get the Yamaha Aventage model that has a pre-out
and contiue using my M-80 for mains and "B" speakers
2) I know this sounds stupid, but I have another RX-V592 that I can use the zone 2 outs to run my outside speakers.
I really like to zone 2 capabilities, as I can have the youngsters playing a game in the living room and still rock the patio.
I'll have to sacrifice the clean power I was using for my mains in the theatre, but I just dropped alod on a 60" LED and don't really have the cash right now to switch out the 671
This would also allow me to pipe out the game to the patio/pool area if sports are on, and just box up the M-80 until the money train arrives again.
Thanks for any thoughts.
John
