Yamaha RX-V667 / Voice Clarity

I have had the above receiver for number of years and have never been satisfied with the Voice Clarity when running programs/movies on Broadcast Channels, DVD, Netflix or Hulu.

I have a 5.1 audio speaker system namely "Energy Classic" comprising of Center, Left /Right, Surrounds and 200W Sub Woofer.

The Voice Clarity is not clear or tends to be muffled especially with the frequency of a female voice.

What can be done to improve on this issue and eliminate the continuous use of the remote to alter the volume levels on different shows / movies etc?

Please provide procedures to improve on the above issue for a frustrated 77 year old (by the way there is nothing wrong with my hearing).

Thanks,

Volume changes will be used no matter what since the sources vary a lot. For clarity from the center make sure its not inside a shelf or have flat surfaces in front of it, the front of the center should stick out at least an inch outside the edge of the shelf/table etc. its on.

Yes, knowing what particular settings/features in the avr you're using might help, as would information about speaker placement, particularly the center, and how far away you're sitting from speakers. Did you originally set up the speakers using the YPAO program in the avr? Are you varying the master volume for all speakers, or just raising level for the center? If you haven't tried raising the trim level of the center in the avr, that could be an idea as is using the DRC (Dynamic Range Compression) feature.

I have one of those Energy Take Classic sets, while decent for the price, there are much better speakers out there that may help as well.
