Yamaha RX-V665 VS V665BL

Quick question!? I have decided to go with the Yamaha RX-665. I plan on buying this receiver very soon. Only problem is I see a BL model. Best Buy wants 499.99 for the RX-V665 and JR wants 299.99 Amazon has a RX-665BL for 269. Is there a difference between the 665 and the 665BL. Also if any one out there has either of these models....what do you think?

Roger that. Why such a huge price gap? Guess that's what made me think the BL was a lower cousin model or something.

Keep in mind that the Yamaha RX-V665 is being discontinued and has been replaced by the RX-V667. This is why the prices your are seeing vary so much.

Also not a stellar performer for the original price....Yamaha knows it and improved the new ones.....the 665 did not get high marks...

Best Buy won't drop the price until they're ready to clearance the model. The model that Best Buy carries is the RX-V665BL, but they just leave off the BL in an attempt to reduce confusion, and fails to do so. In reality, I am not sure a silver version is available in the US anyway, so I don't understand why they need to designate the model with BL to let you know it's black.

As another poster has said, this is not a great model. It used significantly cheaper parts and implementation than its predecessor and successor (older/newer models are what Yamaha should be, the RX-V**5 is not). Unless you plan to use it exclusively as a preamplifier and you can get it for around $250 shipped, I'd say pass on that one.

You're better off going with the years before or after the RX-V665.

A RX-V663 is the year before and the RX-V667 is this year's. I believe either will be an improvement upon the RX-V665, and the RX-V663 should be even cheaper (especially used).

Thanks guys. I am really looking for a receiver to be my Pre amp. So I am looking for a good all around receiver that has Pre outs for atleast the Mains and two Sub outs.
