Yamaha rx-v665 or 663?

I ordered the Yamaha rx-v663 from a certain website but since ive ordered it, they have gone out of stock. The site gave me the option for a free "upgrade" to the rx-v665. I originally didnt want the 665 b/c it seems like a downgrade from the 663 (the 765 seems like a better match). However, ill be using the receiver purely as a pre-amp as I just bought an Emotiva LPA-1.

My question is, should I cancel the order and try for another receiver around $360 or agree with the free "upgrade" for the 665? Thoughts? Thanks.

In my opinion, I would take the 665 if you are adding it to an emotiva amp. I had the 663 and it was nice. The 665 adds more hdmi inputs and has a better video chip than the 663. My 663 looked terrible when converting from component to hdmi. The only drawback to the 665 is the anemic power but you have that covered. My 2 cents....

thanks for the response. I actually asked them to offer the 765 instead, and they went for it. I am very pleased with that decision as the 765 seems like a nice machine. I dont have a ton of HDMI inputs (only a ps3 right now) but having them on the 765 is nice. I actually asked to see if they would trade the 765 for the 863 after I made this post today but havent gotten a response (the 863 was actually cheaper than the 765 on their site). We'll see. The 863 doesnt have a ton of extras that the 765 has but I just hear better stuff about the 63's than the 65's.
