- Hey all,

I am about to take the Plunge tonight and get a new TV and my first receiver!!! :D Kinda excited but want to make the right decision.

I am currently using whats in my Sig. at the bottom but just sold my TV and and and am just going to toss the Shelf Top stereo that I have been using for a while ( Keeping the Speakers ), Many have laughed at me here and rightly SO. :p

I will be getting for a TV:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-56-DLP-Rear-Projection-HDTV-HL-T5676S/sem/rpsm/oid/174309/catOid/-12870/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

AND for Receiver:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8251456&st=YAMAHA+RX-V661&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1169512521608

I want the 7CH set up.

I will be getting the PS3 For gaming and Blu-Ray.

? What will I need to do to ensure that all my movies and games play threw ALL 7-Speakers?

? AND also what will this receiver put out for Sub Woofer power?? I can't see where to look for that??

THANKS in advance and hope to here from many of you soon. I will be leaving soon to make "IMO" some big decisions. :)

First off, unless you are set on buying those items locally, I would shop around online as you can save several hundered dollars between the purchase of both of those items, which could lead to you saving money, or putting the savings towards a bigger tv, or better receiver. Check out onecall.com and amazon.com for the tv, and the receiver as well, but also check out jr.com vanns.com and some of the other online authorized Yamaha dealers. But to get 7 ch. audio from your sources, use HDMI for the PS3 and set the receiver to PLIIx that will give you 7 ch. audio regardless of the source material. I got my RX-V1800 on Ebay and saved about $300 over retail, but the only downside is that voids the warranty, but to me the savings were worth it.

As far as your second queestion goes, most subwoofers are powered, so you won't see a power rating for subs, it will just have a subwoofer preout that you connect to the subwoofer. The sub will have a built in amplifier so you just connect it to the receiver and adjust your level and crossover.

Well,

In regards the Sub Woofer?? Looks like I may have to loose my Shelf Top stereo speakers as well. CRAP!! More money aahhhhh.

My shelf top speakers put out great power of sound, but the subs were off audio wire Not Powered.

Each sub was 5inch so I'm gonna need 10 inch or bedder.

Is it possible to power TWO separate Subs so I could put them in TWO corners of my TV Room??

THANKS a bunch for the help and advice!!

You can always get two powered subs and run a y spliiter from the receivers sub output, or get this.

Emotiva's new upcoming dual sub/amp combo.

Could a Person Buy an AMP for their subs? Like in my case?

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! That way I could keep the TWO 5inchers and maybe later buy a Powered sub woofer that is worthy.

AND if the amp is good enough for more then those tiny woofers I could then later get another sub hidden in the TV room that would rumble elsewhere and scare the guest and just sound great!!! :D Please tell me this is possible :(:)

I will ask them if I can get an amp to power my existing subs and future subs as well. They will just try to sell me on something, wish I heard more from all of you thoe.

Got the 61inch :D

And the YAMAHA RX-V661 will be in on Friday. That's what I'm more excited about!!

The Video Only guy's helped me figure out a way to keep ALL my current speakers and have the ability to add ANOTHER sub later (powerd). CAN'T HARDLY WAIT!!

I figure I will run those Two 5" subs that are up front under the TV and put a 5" - 8" powerd sub behind the couches to add the mystery effect and IN MOVIE Feeling.

7 Speakers and Three sub's, LOOK OUT!!!

YES IT IS!!! :D

We sit 11.5 ft. away from the TV, so I was a little worried about if it was going to be too big of a set!! BUT boy was I wrong!! It looks GREAT:cool:

I can hardly wait to get that "Yammy" and hook things up RIGHT for once :p

HD is (I can already tell) gonna be down right AWESOME. 1080P bring it on.

I sure hope my thoughts of the speaker set up Work and Sound Good, we'll see??? :D

I am 10 feet away form my 73'' display and it seems about right so dont worry about it being too big.

That is reassuring to me as welll, I just ordered the WD-73733 73" Mitsubishi DLP, and I'm sitting 12 ft. from the tv, so that should be just the right distance. I can't wait to see how 1080p looks with blu ray movies from the PS3.

Got my YAMAHA RX-V661 all hooked up!! Got it a little early.

There's a spot on the back that says extra. It's for extra front Left and Right speakers to assist in some sound effects and such. The guys at video only (because I wanted to keep my JVC speakers with sub woofers in them) said that I could hook the sub woofers audio wires in to that spot to run the woofers.

I tried that and zero bass would come out of them? They worked but ONLY in certain scenes where Much lower and loud tones were needed?

What Will I have to do to have the subs work? and work properly. They are subs that are Not powered but are subs with their own ( + - ) Wires. 90Watts is under powering these subs I think, and their Not catching 100% Low frequencies and tones only???

Need some HELP. :(

The extra allows you to biamp your fronts if you want. They only output 20w per channel so you can't hook up a sub to it. You have to go through the LFE preout for sub.

See I new that for sure but I was really hoping to be able to work those front subs AND Have the standard sub hooked up in a different location in the room.

I was hoping. :(

What would I need to do to AMP those subs up front and get the right audio to them? I think it would be AWESOME to get those working, even just a little bit working and be able to hook up a sub elsewhere in the room. :)

The subs I am trying to power are only 5" each.

Buy a 2ch amp like a behringer a500 and hook them up to that. Although if you already have a capable powered sub in your setup I think those 5" subs would actually degrade your system than improve it.

I may have to get two subs and use a splitter. and just get rid of my current JVC speakers. :(

It's hard!! Just spent about $2,200!!!

Well take off $800 because of the money I made off the last TV.
$900 buck, that looks much better. :)

Hey here's a link to my speakers I am talking about:

Please tell me what you think? Make fun of it and tell me how its holding me back from hearing Good stuff and NOT giving me the power and sound quality that my New YAMAHA Receiver can give. OR if there is ANY good let me know as well. :D

I would VERY much appreciate that!! If also anybody else wants to throw in their 2-cents Please do, I need all I can get.

Well for $900 you can put together a nice 5.1 system with sub if you want. I have Mirage 550 towers in the front, center, and 2 mounted bookshelves and I spent around $650 for the speakers and decided to just buy the sub at a later time. Now the sub I am getting costs more than all my speakers but that's usually the breakdown when you buy speakers and sub. As far as speakers go I would say buy some speakers first and then a sub. If you absolutely cannot spend more than $900 on everything no matter what then get this:

http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sbs_black.cfm

That is actually $999 but it comes with a very nice sub.

If you can buy the stuff separate and wait a little then get some of these:

2 pairs of these
http://www.av123.com/products_product.php?section=speakers&product=111.1

1 of these
http://www.av123.com/products_product.php?section=speakers&product=112.1

Then buy the sub later when you get more funds or just buy 1 pair of the X-LS encore and the center and then a sub like this one:

http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-10nsd.cfm

And buy the surrounds later on. That would be a pretty killer system for the price.
