Yamaha RX-V659 connection question

I am adding a new Yamaha RX-V659 to my home theater. I am currently using on old (1996 era) Soundstream monoblock for my sub amp. I am sick of having to turn both amps on and off...especially since I have to actually walk up and turn the Soundstream amp off, and sometimes I forget.

Question is: There is a small remote output jack in the back of the Yamaha that looks like a mini headphone jack. It is labeled 12V and so many mA output. The manual shows dasiy chaining Yamaha componenets with this output, but gives no further details on its ability. On my Soundstream I have a remote in, but it looks like an RCA plug, and has no specs. on it. I emailed Soundstream, but they have no technical information on any of their home stereo equipment since they left the business several years ago. Is it as easy as connecting these two together with an adaptor, or am I stuck turning them on and off individually?

Thanks in advance!

Trigered power on.

Sounds like you could make the triggered power feature work with a couple parts from radioshack. Pick-up a mono cable with the mini headphone jacks. Modify the cable or buy an adapter for the Male RCA connector for the amp side. I would guess that the center conductor on both ends is the +12V and the outside conductor is the Ground. Give it a shot. It this doesn't work, there are some power strips and power centers that will do a triggered power on.

It worked...used a minijack to phono converter from radio shack and plugged 'er in...works perfect. No more turning the sub amp on and off!

That is great. Now we know that on that a remote is a 12v trigger:D Now to hide that cable;)
