I have a Yamaha RX V565 receiver and every time I change channels the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds while it up scales....Is this normal? Can I fix it? It's driving me crazy. Also, Just recently the sound started cutting out about every 10 to 15 seconds and the receiver screen would flash from HDMI1 to Decoder off. Please help i'm about to throw this thing threw Best Buys front door.

Thanks in advance

Does it do this on all sources or just what you are using to watch TV with? What are you using to receive TV?

Yamaha reciever

I'm using Rocketfish HDMI cables, Time Warner HD Cable box, and my TV is a LCD LG. I have had this system hooked up for over a year and never had a problem until now. Thanks for your reply. BTW is that your system in the link??? Pretty sick stuff, bet it sounds great.

Yes that is my Studio in the link.

The big question I want answered is whether this happens on all sources or just the TV.

If just the TV it is almost certainly a problem with the cable box. Satellite and cable boxes are pretty close to junk and have a high failure rate.

I think you are right.... I put a DVD in the PS3 and it never cut out once. That is the only other source i use. I have another question for you. Is there any way to stop the up scaling when i change the channels? Maybe a different way of hooking up the TV to the tuner. It's quite irritating that it cuts out every time I change the channel.

Thanks again for your help

I doubt it with HDMI. I suspect the delay is the remaking of the HDCP code handshakes. Impossible to say where most of the delay is occurring, the cable box, receiver or TV.

You need a new cable box any way, and may be it will improve with a new cable box.
