After talking to many folks on this website I have narrowed my choice down to two different receivers. They seem very similar. Just wanted a second opionion. I'll be using this with the usual stuff, my Direct TV (HDMI), Blue Ray Player (HDMI), my Nintendo Wii (Component) & my PS2 (Component). I have a set of 5.1 Yamo speakers that are rated 70 watt per channel @ 6 Ohms. The average Onkyo tx-sr506 on Ebay is around $275 and the average Yamaha RX-V465 on Ebay is around $315. Does the Yamaha do anything the Onkyo doesn't for the 40 or 50 $ price difference?

The Yammie will accept audio over HDMI and can decode the hi-def formats. The Onkyo will only pass through the HDMI signal, so you have to use a separate connection for audio and can't use the hi-def codecs. However, Onkyos use Audessey, which some people prefer to the YPAO in the Yamahas. The Onkyo 507 is supposed to do this, making it more comparable to the 465.

The Onkyo is available from shoponkyo.com for ~$200 as a refurb. I got mine there and it works flawlessly. Free shipping too.
