Thanks Mike,
I'm not seeing any huge improvements in the 1900 over the 1800 beyond the USB connection. Assuming it will actually exist on the US model.
I'm curious to know whether or not Yamaha got rid of the tiny volume display that is the most annoying defect in the 1800. I couldn't tell from the pix.

from the top pic, it looks like it's still tiny (near the upper right of the display). i've heard, sonnie of HTS actually get rid of his yamaha for a denon for that specific reason.

I love it when this is supposed to be protected information until CEDIA but dealers/installers leak it out via forums and/or international based websites

maybe because it's a foreign language site so they think they can get away with it.

i found the link in an online philippine forum.

What's with the funky looking AC outlets? Is that what the outlets look like in other countries? I guess there is still no volume OSD via HDMI, otherwise the tiny volume indicator would be a moot point... that too bothers me since I have to get up from my seat to see the volume most of the time. I also hope they keep the remotes black for the US models. The RX-V1900 in that link doesn't have any switched outlets on it either, that seems kinda odd.

that's the european outlets, their plugs look like that. unfortunately for the Philippines, we get the crappy end of all things.

for example:
-we DON'T have funky plugs, but we get to use that funky outlet. (i hoard all old appliances with those kinds of plugs so i can cut off those plugs and re-splice some power cords)
-we're 220v 60hz - the rest of the world is either 110v 60hz or 220v 50hz

Could someone please explain to me the reason that none of these receivers pass OSD information via HDMI? Is it impossible? Does any receiver do this? My receiver sits behind the metal screen door of a Salamander cabinet and it is very frustrating trying to read the display from about twelve feet away. I am looking for a new receiver in the Yamaha Z7/Marantz 8002/Pioneer SC-07 range and no one seems to pass OSD information. Knowing why might ease my mind.

Thanks,
Craig

I assumed the new Yammy's would, You have confirmed that they don't?

The upper Denons do (AVR 4308CI)

I think it will work if your input device isn't HDMI, even if it's output on HDMI... doesn't it have something to do with HDCP?

Overlaying graphics onto HDMI requires a receiver that can process HDMI video, and those models are few and far between.

The 3900 can process HDMI video, and the product sheet does seem to imply it can overlay some info over HDMI. Best to wait for someone to confirm this though.
