Yamaha rx-v365 issues

Im sure this is a user issue but I am having difficulties getting this to work right.


I have a DVD player connected to the recevier. I switched the DVD input to optical because my dvd doesnt have coaxial. I do not get 5.1. I get 2 channels. I have a 5.1 setup.

Can you please help with this issue?

IIR, Make sure the DVD player is set for Dolby Digital in its menu, not PCM. Also, make sure the disc you’re playing is also 5.1 and not 2.0.

the player only has Bit Stream or PCM.

Assuming that yours is an old player and really only has two channel like a cd player......At this point, adequate new player with upconversion costs about $39 and entry Blue Ray units $99.....go for the latter and put old player out with tonight's garbage...

Set it to bitstream.

Also make sure that the optical input on the receiver is assigned to the DVD input.
