Yamaha RX V359 - no sound, any ideas?

Ive had this amp many years and its been very good, esp for blu rays. Yesterday was playing discs fine, but later that evening found there was no sound at all. Tried all the usual suspects - loose lead, unmute, settings, etc. It must be something on the amp, perhaps when I dropped the remote (?). Im no expert but it should be working. Discs play through the hdmi on the TV itself - but nothing through speakers and surround. Would greatly appreciate any help!

Try unplugging it a while (soft reset) or a microprocessor/system reset (if it has one)? This remote only or both on-unit controls and remote?

Tried both those! I am beginning to think something has shorted out...
Can always try those again though. Many thanks for your input!

Just checking since you didn't mention, otherwise with your other efforts doesn't sound too good as far as diagnosis at home goes....seems time for a shop/repair center perhaps (or just a reason to upgrade). Good luck!

3 things:
1: Check the ab speaker switch and make sure its engaged correctly
2. Make sure multi channel input isnt engaged
3. make sure the avr is processing audio and not passing thru to your tv

Everettt is right, check the stuff that you may not think you have engaged (others in the house using stuff?). I now remember someone recently complained of similar and had a tape monitor button engaged....not an issue on newer units since they don't have 'em....
