Hi all this is my first time at this forum (lots of info:) :) )
I have a problem with my receiver. when I turn it on it turns on and then turns off right away? Has this happened to anyone and is there a common fix before having to send it in for repair?
Thanks,
Chuck

Hey try this first

I had a similar problem with my 2500. Check the plug in connection in the back of the receiver where the power cord plugs in. Make sure it is a solid connection. I have other ideas as well but am run ning out the door try this first. Let us know from there.

Check your Impedance Selector switch on the backpanel (page 6 of manual)... if it's set incorrectly, the unit returns immediately to Standby Mode after you try to powerup (p 69 manual)...

Hope this does the trick... Mike

I checked the power connector at the receiver and at the outlet. All looked fine.
I checked the impedence selecto switch and it is set to the 8ohm setting whick is what my speaker (yamaha as well) are rated at. I have gone as far as to disconnect everything but the power supply line and try to turn it on and still nothing? I'm guessing this is a problem for tweeter? DAMN!!!
Thanks for your help. I am new to this forum and now find myself on here alot.

Turn both A&B speakers buttons to the offer position, then move the Impedance Selector switch to the other position (4ohm A or 8ohm A+B) & turn on Speaker A button only... sees if it works in this position... Mike

When it turns off, does the stand by light start flashing? If it does then you have to reset the unit. The instructions will be in the manual in trouble shooting. If it still wont operate then you have probably damaged the safty trip and it has gone into protective mode. If this is the case it will need repairs:eek: Have you been turning the volume up really high for long periods with poor ventilation around your receiver? (guess how I fried my receiver)

Two years ago I had the same issues with my RX V3000 receiver shutting down. In 2010I finally found a local repair shop to do the work on my unit. What they found was that the main board(was shot)and had to replaced with a new board. No repairs could be done on old board-they tell me......Oh really?? So, I'm out some hefty bucks for the repair, but its way cheaper than having to buy a new unit. This unit in 2001/2002 was Yamaha's 2nd best receiver at that time and in my opinion built pretty well.

I had the same issues just a week ago with my RX V3000 receiver shutting down. I have a neighbor who is a retired electronics engineer and he was willing to take a look at the issue. What he found was that some of the resistors on the main power board were not soldered properly and were loose. So ever time there was a bit of vibration it would interrupt the power and turn off. The solution was to re-solder all the connections and it now works better than ever.

I have another issue with trying to hook up a rear subwoofer along with the rest of my speakers. My speakers are all from Klipsch. I have the complete surround sound setup with a 12" and a 10" subwoofer. Following the Connecting Subwoofers instructions on page 20 of the Yamaha RX-V3000 manual I had to move the 12" subwoofer from the front to the rear and make the 10" subwoofer the front one. They both have a switch at the back where you can turn on automatic power detection on so that the subwoofer will turn itself On or Off when detecting a signal from the Receiver. The front subwoofer is connected with a single +/- cable from the subwoofer output on the Receiver. The rear subwoofer is connected with the left and right +/- Rear input/output connection, but now the subwoofer no longer does the automatic power detection. Now when the Receiver is turned Off, I get a lot of feedback from the Rear subwoofer and have to turn it's power off manually. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?
