Perhaps it is a two step operation. First set your surrounds from "none" to "yes", then set them to "small". On some receivers if you have the front speakers set to small the surrounds can only be set to "small". Check your manual on this.

Thank you, Nick!
Will try

On most receivers the display shows the format of the incoming signal, not how many speakers are currently being used. If the display shows left and right only it likely means the input signal is stereo.

There should be a button on the remote or front panel labeled something like 'surr'. Just press it until the desired mode is shown. If you select eg. ProLogic II, the display should then say PLII but the icons will still show left and right only.

I'm sure the manual describes the buttons on the remote in detail...

If it should be so easy...
I've already tryed everything. Even read manual several times. :))
Today I went to the Best Buy and has found same problem with two 2700 receivers. And when I ask to most experienced salespersons to fix this problem on their display devises, nobody did it.

Make sure the receiver isn't in Direct or Pure Direct mode. Surround modes won't be available as direct and pure direct are pure analog modes and bypass all processing.

Good day everyone.Well after hving the 2700 for a bit now I am very pleased with it and everything it offers. It preforms way better than its cost[I do not think it is a flagship reciever]When I bought the 2700 I also bought B&W 602 s3's.When I first started to use them they were very thight in the bass and thats what I was looking for for music, but now that they have a few hours on them they gotten a little to boomy for my liking.Itried putting the plugs in the venting system but did not like that.Is this common with this company or is it just me.I have tried to correct this in the EQ and just can find a happy and enjoyable sound like I had when I first listened to them here at home. Thanks Tim

Do a master reset of your 2700 and start over again.Do the auto setup.I hooked up two more speakers to the presence channels and could not get them to work until I did a master reset

Sounds like a room acoustics issue. Have you tried moving the speakers around a bit or with toeing them in a some if those are options? Next thing to try is bass traps, and if all else fails, EQing.
