 I have purchased a rxv2500 and can't seem to get it to perform some functions that according to manual I am supposed to be able to perform. First, the fan. I followed instructions and set the fan to Cont(continuous). It is supposed to run continuous rather than the auto setting which comes on according to temp via thermostat I suppose. Second, I am supposed to be able to adjust the bass/treble centered around three independent freq's each? I can't get it to do this on the front panel display. Pg 56 and 84 state that I can. Is manual wrong/misprint? I returned first unit and received another new in box and still the same. I'm concerned that it has some problems or is all ok and I'm doing something wrong. I did graduate from college and think of myself to be of atleast average or higher intelligence. Your time is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What kinds of trouble are you exactly having setting the bass/treble levels. I follow the instruction on page 83 and 84 and I can get to where I need to make those modifications. Is the remote set to AMP? and when you press the display button do you get the options on the front panel?

My question to you is where have you found the information on the fan?

Thanks.

Rx-v2500

I purchased a RX-V2500 on 2/23/05 from an online vendor and I am very pleased except for the fan does not appear to be working. The top of the unit got hot to the touch in one spot so I changed the fan from auto to continuous. This did not solve the hot spot problem so I opened the cover and found the fan will spin freely by my finger but never turns on in auto or continuous mode.

I called Yamaha support and was told that fixing the fan will require shipping the unit back to Yamaha for a firmware upgrade. The real kicker is that since the retailer I bought the RX-V2500 is not a "Yamaha authorized retailer" then I was informed that I will have to pay for this service. This is my first purchase of Yamaha equipment and until I called Yamaha for assistance I had never heard of autorized retailers. How the heck is someone supposed to know this when purchasing a Yamaha product? This sure seems like a crappy way of supporting a product. After talking to the Yamaha support guy it sounds like I don't have a warranty.

Has anyone else that purchased a RX-V2500 had problems with a fan that does not work? Does anyone know if it is possible to get RX-V2500 firmware and how to install it?

I am thinking about taking mine to a local authorized yamaha service center and just pay out of pocket for fan to be fixed or buy a little fan, plug it in the back of rcv'r so when I use the rcv'r it will blow air across the unit. It gets hot as hell after a 2 hour movie at moderate levels especially on the underneath left side below transformer.
